: Corvette water pump fitment in 04 CTS-V

I've had a really hard time finding confirmation online regarding whether or not a Corvette/etc LS6 water pump would fit an 04 CTS-V, except one forum post on another board saying that it did. Since a Corvette pump was about $100 cheaper than a CTS-V pump, I thought I'd give it a shot. Final answer, it does technically fit. It might even be okay - but I am not happy with the amount of clearance between the huge bell pulley and the radiator fan shroud. My concern is with engine movement the pulley may contact the fan shroud. I certainly wouldn't expect catastrophic failure, or really much of a problem at all (maybe a worn spot in the shroud over time), and I could also trim the fan shroud to gain the necessary clearance, but I am considering selling the car eventually (too many toys and buying a house) and I refuse to be the "damn previous owner," so I have a proper CTS-V water pump on the way.

In case anyone else was wondering, I thought I'd post it up here.

Did you buy the same pump referenced below (252-846)?

I don't think they come with gaskets. Removing the water pump is straightforward...I wouldn't just buy a new water pump to "make it worth your while." Your choice, though. The CTS-V one costs $250, or you can buy an AC Delco unit for the C5 Z06 for $100.

I bought a Bosch 99175 but it appears to have a similar/identical design.

The forum link mentions clearancing the fan shroud, so I expect it is the same. I'm considering selling my V if I end up buying a house though (waiting on the appraisal) and I'd rather keep everything as perfect as possible. :)

Do you have aftermarket mounts? If so, I wouldn't worry about the engine moving. I wouldn't change it out, either. Sure, it may give the next owner trouble if he wants to upgrade to an alradco radiator or something, but at that point he's drained the coolant and everything and he can just swap on a new pump. It's not like they're that expensive.

I have been using a Vette pump for quite some time with no negative effects. Thought it was ridiculous what the V pump costs for a smaller pulley. It is a very close fit in relation to the fan assembly but fit with no issues. I am also running CS mounts.
