Hi All,
I am new, I have a 2005 V8 AWD, I bought the newest Nav 2013 Update.
The Nav is not reading the disc , when I put in the wrong DVD is tells me that.
But the new Single DVD does not registar.

Any help would be great.
Thank you Barry in Chicago

You have outdated firmware in your NAV. See your dealer for an update to the firmware that will allow your NAV to read newer NAV map discs.

What's interesting is that the gmnavdisc website has been remodeled and it shows the same part number for the 2005 STS as the 2006+. The old site always had two different part numbers and there had not been a recent update available for the 2005 last time I looked.

After shopping around, a .6 hours allowed, and finding a dealer
that has the disk, or getting the disc, it cost me $ 60.00 for
the upgrade, and works GREAT !
You CANNOT do this yourself, you need a different UPgrade
disc, Different than the NAV disc we insert,
and a TECH II tool.

Grossinger Cadillac Downtown Chicago wants $140.00 just to look at the Nav system, not including any software update.

Tell them, as I did, You just want the update, and NOT to have them "LOOK" at it !
I would have Travelled 20 miles to get it done @ a lower rate.I shopped around.
3 dealers did NOT respond, and one wouldn't even call me back. One did,Excellent.
One member EVEN took in the TSO, to the dealer, So they know exactly WHAT
you want done, and it shows the .6 hrs.
Happy Motoring.

Hi All,
I went to a very nice Dealership in Chicagos's Northern suburbs. They could not find any info on software upgrades
for the nav system. If any one has a bulletin (TSO) please send it on.
Thank you Barry

You might want to find a more knowledgible service department.

Search on here in the STS and STS-V forums. It's here, the full text of the TSB. I took it into my dealer. There is even someone on here who was sending the CD with the upgrade SW to dealers.

Search on things like Firmware upgrade, Bluetooth issues, NAV Update, etc.

I can confirm that the update does allow the NAV to read the newer discs. Had the same problem with the 2012 disc.

I sent a copy of the upgrade to a forum member in Moscow, Russia and it worked for him. I was paying a favor forward that I got from another member.

There's an update that softens it during low speed bumps. Ill post it tomorrow when I'm on my pc.

Hey guys I took am in need of this firmware update for my nav. Got the new CD for free but every dealer Iv'e called here in the Palm Beacarea in FL, have no clue what I am talking about. Anyone have a CD they could mail to my dealer for me? Or point me in the right direction to getting this solved. Sucks to have NAV and not be able to use it, regardless of how good or bad it performs. Thanks in advance!

The firmware update was created to improve the performance of the voice recognition system and relocate various selections in the personalizations. The NAV disk read update was an adjunct feature. I'll bet if you ask for the voice recognition update they'll know what you're talking about.

Just print out the TSB text itself from the links earlier in this thread and take it in. That's what I did. They had to order the CD.

We DO NOT have the "update" CD, Actually it's a DVD, it is a dealer "only" availability.
You have the Map Disk.
What NEW Map Disk "Version" did you get for free?
You can use the Ver 2.0 and it WILL work.
I've even taken the TSO into another dealer, and they did not have the disk.
AND they would not order/get it, to do the TSB ?

The firmware is a two disk CD set and requires a TECHII to complete the update.

This is bulletin #06-03-11-001: Groaning or Shuddering Noise at Low Speeds When Driving Over Low Profile Bumps (Update Electronic Suspension Control Module Software). This only applies to the 2005-2006 STS though.
