HEADCOUNT: 8 thus far!

Forward:
S-K Speed has agreed to offer a package discount on McLeod RXT twin disc ceramic clutches, McLeod pilot bearings, and your choice of steel or aluminum McLeod or RAM flywheels. Due to pressure from several members who need to meet build schedules or are going on deployment, I'm starting this group buy a little bit ahead of schedule.

From the brochure:
The McLeod RXT Street Twin clutch kits are ideal clutches for the extreme horsepower enthusiast who wants an economically priced clutch kit that does not include a flywheel. Able to handle up to 1,000 hp, the RXT Street Twin clutches are for those who have kicked it up another notch, but still require streetability. The ceramic facing on the clutch discs provides slightly aggressive engagement with a soft pedal effort, making these clutches suitable for most street performance enthusiasts.

Additional features include:
* Alignment tool
* Lighter-than-stock pedal feel
* Will bolt to factory flywheel
* CNC-machined and anodized flywheel adapter ring
* Smooth engagement with excellent release qualities
* Ceramic facings on disc increase holding power over similar organic linings
* Low rotating mass or quick revs
* Blanchard ground floater with multiple straps to reduce noise for streetability

The Rules:
We need a minimum of 5 orders. To be considered eligible, you must order a clutch, pilot bearing, and flywheel. I know for a fact (checked with multiple distributors) that the deal that we're getting on the McLeod RXT and parts is EXCELLENT. We're cutting it very, very close to what McLeod is selling these to the vendors and they're not making much money.

I will establish a date 2-3 weeks from now where all members need to be paid in full. If we do not get the minimum five orders, the group buy will be cancelled and S-K Speed will refund your money in full. I will update this thread with a headcount from both here and the Cadillac Forums as Mike updates his headcount.

I have not factored in shipping costs or tax yet. I will update this thread as more information becomes available. Worst case, according to S-K Speed's shipping table, you'll be out $30 for S&H. No whining!

Summary:
Post if you're interested and have money in hand. The most clutch and flywheel package, assuming no tax and $30 S&H should range from $1095 to $1260, depending on which flywheel option you pick. PMing me is not necessary--I check these forums every day.

----------

Supplemental Weight and Rotating Inertia Comparison (rough):

GM LS7 Clutch Assembly (#24255748): 33.0 lbs
Fidanza LS7 Aluminum flywheel: 13.5 lbs
Total LS7: 46.5 lbs

McLeod Clutch Assembly (6932-07): 21.5 lbs
McLeod LS1 Aluminum Flywheel: 13.5 lbs
Total McLeod: 35.0 lbs

Diameter of LS7 friction disc: 11.50 inches
Diameter of McLeod friction disc: 9.69 inches

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/imgmec/tdisc.gif

Moment of Inertia of LS7 clutch: Iz = (1/2)*(46.5 lbs)*(11.50 inches / 12 inch / ft)^2 = 21.35 lb-ft^2
Moment of Inertia of McLeod clutch: Iz = (1/2)*(35.0 lbs)*(9.69 inches / 12 inch / ft)^2 = 11.41 lb-ft^2 (47% less)

(The above assumes entire assembly is inestimably thin and has friction disc diameter)

4 unconfirmed (unpaid as of yet) takers in 15 hours. Nice. Need only one more, and we still have a couple of weeks left to run this thing to ground. Mike at S-K Speed promised free shipping for all if we hit 10 guys.

As opposed to a $1000 FAST intake that will help you in terms of peak horsepower but add little under the curve?

A "normal" LS7 clutch will run you $600 and only do about 500 torque. A lightweight flywheel with that LS7 will put you up to about $750, and it'll still only do about 500 torque.

Just trying to put this in perspective. You gain power, lose weight, and future-proof your car, all while reducing pedal effort.

Nope lol, I completely agree with you. And when the time comes I'll get something similar. I spent more than that on a exedy hypersingle for my last car. But until at least my tax return, there is no way I'll be able to drop $1k without my fiancee trying to knife me in my sleep. If the deal is still around, I'm down but for now I can't. I said I was interested in the other thread you posted about all the stuff you were going to group buy, just wanted to make sure you knew I couldn't get it right now is all.

I'm getting Mike's contact info for you guys without LS1Tech and Paypal accounts or who live in Canada.

For those of you who are ready to order and want to use Paypal, PM me your order and Paypal address and I will forward your information to Mike. Alternately, PM him directly. He will send you an invoice. For the rest of you, I'll work with you one-on-one as Mike feeds me deposit and credit card ordering information.

Got it :) I spoke to Mike at S-K yesterday and he mentioned he was following the thread. The post was actually aimed at him. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for putting this group buy together.

Quoted from the LS1Tech thread (http://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-cts-v/1615674-group-buy-opportunity-mcleod-rxt-twin-disc-1000-hp-ceramic-clutch-3.html):

Hey Guys, we are going to have the deadline set for Friday for those committed to the group buy. Payment will be due by Tuesday.

Once we have the list of who wants what, I will message everyone about payment. Either I will send a Paypal Invoice or we can accept CC payments. For a CC payment on a large purchase for those who havent bought from us, I'll require an email or faxed driver's license that matches the billing address of your CC.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM, EMail or call me.
