My 05 CTS-V has 61,000 miles and I am wondering if anyone has any idea on the lifespan of shocks with this model as I am hearing squeaks in the undercarriage as I go over bumps at a slow speed. i appreciate any feedback. thanks

Some last longer than 61,000 miles, but many do not.

These are gas/oil pressurized units that leak when they fail. The low-viscosity shock oil will usually leave a tale-tell coating on the surfaces around the shock.

I have had one front shock fail. The corner of the car with failed shock made a noise like rocks in a muffled coffee can when encountering bumps. It was particularly noticeable at lower speeds. High speed cornering seemed unaffected.

Shocks with significant mileage should be replaced in pairs.
