: Door handle recall

I was informed by my dealer yesterday that there is a recall on all four door handles and the wiring connecting to them. It seems that the harness is too short and can be cut in the the door hinge. The dealer has ordered the handles and will notify me when they arrive.

What is interesting is that the buttons on both rear doors didn't work when I got the car in July and the dealer replaced both (after sending them to the paint booth for matching paint) and then the buttons worked.

Now they are being all replaced however GM is sending them pre-painted to match.

Anyone else hear of this?

Can you get the technical service bulletin (tsb) number? I have not heard of this.

Yes, that would be helpful to have.

Wwthomas33, I would be happy to check for any additional recall details on my end of things! Please email me anytime with the last eight of your VIN, and I can investigate on your behalf. I'm reachable via email at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com.

Katie did the research on this issue and identified it as recall 12263. I will resolve this issue through my dealer.

I went to my.cadillac.com and entered my vin for recalls and all that came up was the recall 2012258 for the rear head restraints. I already knew about that one. Either my vehicle is not involved in the door handle recall or it is not in the system yet. Btw the rear door handles work properly with 4500 miles on the car.

Cadzla,

This car is perfect for me, just the way it rolled off the showroom floor.

The happiest days of my life were when I bought a V and when I traded it in for the xts.

I love a warranty and cruising.

This is a service update from gm. Not a recall. Still a action is required. I have done a few down here is south west florida. There have been a few updates on different features of the XTS but they r still great vehicles.

The recall is the handles and the cables that connect the handles to the lock assemblies. Did my first one yesterday. What a PITA!

I would assume that after the problem was identified and the service notice issued that any future "built" car doesn't need this service as it should be corrected during production.

I cut my fingers on the chrome plated inside door handle (drivers) twice. I cut off the peeling chrome material, - what a cheap item for a $60,000 car (2006 STS). It started peeling 3 years ago. :rant2:

I would imagine that had to be a PITA ! Do you have to take the door assembly totally apart ?? If so I bet this fix may be causing some of the rattles we have been reading about.

Just got all my interior door handles replaced free of charge. Apparently there was a recall for the chrome coming off.
