Help,I am new here ,having been tasked with keeping my friends 1997 Catera on the road.
Recently I was checking for a coolant leak tha seems to be coming from the drivers side rear of the motor.
As I was cheking around there, my hand got caught on a wire back there and it broke off.
The wire leads to a male-female connector ,wire color is green I think.
Can someone tell what this wire is and wher soes it go? I thought it ran to that harness on the drivers sidejust above the valve cover... Thanks... Mark in KC

102409Ok here is a pic,not very good ,might have to take another, but the connector is long shaped like a fuse
connector with a green wire the goes to the wire harness on the Driver side valve cover.

Leak sounds like it is coming from the heater control valve.

SO that were on the same page, is it the wire in the picture or the vacuum hose?

It is the wire in the same pic.One end goes to the harness the other goes down the back of the motor I THINK(it is broken but I went to the junk yard and followed it down the back of the motor. Here is another 2 pics that are better. The leak looks like it is originating from the left side somewhere. The coolant wasnt real low after a 20 min drive but it is definitely leaking somewhere,I did look at the HCV on the right side rear and it didnt look like it was leaking or wet.... I started the car and got under to look at it and it seemed to be coming from around the exhaust manifold on the drivers side.

I broke a wire on the rear of the motor on a 1997 Cadillac Catera. I cant see exactly wher it goes or what it is,the wire is green and is connected to the wire harness by about a 1 inch long connector. What is it and how do I fix it? The car is still running good but that wire is hot and want to fix it.

i don't know if this helps but you said :at the end of the exhaust.
