I live in Utah and it gets cold out here. I was wondering if its expensive to add remote start to my 05 cadillac sts? Or if the option is already available I just have to purchase different fob with the option. Thanks for your help

I thought all STS had remote start. Is there any mention of it in your personalization options? Might want to drop your vin at compnine.com to get your options list; I would imagine it would show there.

:yeah: thought it was standard on all STS's too...

Ditto. Perhaps you just have a fob someone bought off eBay that doesn't have the remote start button. Does your fob have a button to release a removable spare key? The DTS fob looks much like the STS fob but may not have the remote start button. The DTS fobs don't have a removable spare key.

...not on all...e.g. ...most exports didn't get that feature...(none of the european!)
...they also got another fob (there is no "start-button" on the fob), used another frequency and had a different module...

Robert8b, assuming you don't have one of the export versions, does your Fob have the button with the circular arrow?
You might just need to activate remote start in the car settings. You might want to read the manual about it.

Also, just an FYI, if the SES light is on remote start is disabled.

I too, thought this was standard.

If you don't have Navigation, you may need the Owners Manual to turn on the Remote Start option for the matched driver. It's still done through the entertainment system, but not intuitive. Only fobs matched as Driver 1 or 2 will Remote Start an STS.

Im sorry but i think you would need the manual with the nav, non nav is so easy by pressing one button and scrolling down and turning it on. simple as pie. but everthing else you said is correct!

Great! I'm unfamiliar with non-Nav configuration.

I wish I had the nav!

Some members aren't big fans of the Nav. Opinions do vary.

I wouldn't say useless...

I have a 2007 east map disc (no MN addresses) and it will still bring me home based off the GPS end point I stored for my house.

Still use my Android GPS most of the time though.

The Nav system is a little cumbersome to use compared to the Tom Tom or the Garmin but I would not buy a Caddy without the Nav system. The ability to tweak the car through the nav system screens make it worth having the nav system.

i know on a 08 chevy truck you can just program a new key fob with the option and it works i dident believe it till the guy at trade school showed me

My thoughts exactly...even IF it didn't have the navigation feature I'd still want it for the touch screen.

The Nav is worth it for the touch screen and the 15 speaker setup regardless of the decency of the maps.

All the disks have the old roads. Even the new disks lack new ones.

I add my support for the navigation system based on the things it can do other than the actual navigation. Playing DVD concert videos thru the system in DTS mode is a total treat. The 15 speaker surround sound is incredible.
