: Considering a STS-V

I had a STS a few years ago and loved it. I have been looking at the STS-V's for a while now and will probably get one in the next several months. I am looking for some general input on the good\bad of the STS-V.

Other than the base model, where there any additional options available form the factory?
Were any of the model years better than others, and if so, why?

Any know issues to look for when I start doing actual test drives, etc?

Thank you in advance.

That took me about 3 minutes. I went through about 5 pages of results. Since I'm in a good mood I'll tell you how to use google.
1. Go to Google.
2. Type what you're looking for. I typed "sts-v issues" then type site:cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-sts-v-series-forum
Now google will only search this forum. Tada.

You're welcome.

Dvdkea, thank you for considering an STS-V! If you have any questions about a particular model's options, I'm happy to provide you with its individual build sheet. Email me anytime with the last eight of a STS-V's VIN, and I can send you that information. I'm also happy to investigate any additional questions you have, so don't hesitate to send me an email at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com for further assistance.

I want to say the options that will be rarer to find are cooled seats, and adaptive headlights. And of course engine block heater. Great car. Just picked up my 09. Still have my 07 STS V8 that I'm now selling. The STS V8 is definitely a powerful car, and at minimal throttle, I'd say I notice the extra 250-300 lbs on the STS-V. Other than that, the power is a big difference. Definitely a stiffer ride, but it just feels overall like a much more solid machine. It handles much better as well.

Scratch the cooled seats. Don't think it's an option. Adaptive cruise control is also kind of rare.

I know the Adaptive cruise was not an option on any STS-V.
Also the cooled seats I believe was not an option due to the suede inserts in the seats.

Regarding the adaptive headlights (intellibeam) not sure how many Vs had them.

Adaptive cruise & cooled seats, no. Intellibeam, yes.

huh.. good to know. When you say intellibeam, you're not talking the automatic highbeams right? Because I have that, but I don't have the adaptive headlights (swiveling)

If I recall correctly the sun roof was standard and the option was sunroof delete.

I have only ever seen automatic highbeams as Intellibeam.
The STS has never had the adaptive forward lighting system (AFL) swiveling headlights.
In Export models they have Auto Leveling lights.
In the China SLS model in 2011+ they have the AFL system in what looks a lot like a CTS headlight.
For reference the SLS with AFL and updated fogs/signals...

I really like that front bumper.

There are so many things about the SLS that I and a lot of the rest of the STS crowd likes.

Will be tossing my 2006 STS-V up for sale this month...if you are interested. 86,XXXX miles, black exterior, black and red interior, intake and exhaust, poly bushings, new diff bushing, window tint, blacked out wheels and taillights, slotted rotors. Service is up to date. No mechanical issues. And I just had the front end resprayed to fix up the chips from rocks over the years. PM me if you want.

Interesting, check out that front plate. 2.0T, SIDI, same engine that was in my Saturn Sky Redline. I wonder if the Chinese SLS is much lighter than our STS. The 2.0T was great in my less than 3000lb Sky, not sure how well it would feel in a 4000lb+ sedan.

It's likely heavier as its about 6 inches longer than the STS.
They offer 2.0T or 3.0L or 3.5L depending on model.
