: Driveshaft Coupler

I finally made an account on here so I can ask questions. I have an 05 V and the driveshaft coupler needed replaced. I drove it awhile until then I ordered a revshift coupler. I assumed that would solve most of my vibration since my stock coupler was in bad shape. First install of the coupler I did not have washers and did not install the washers which was my fault but the car made noise so I pulled it back on the lift checked it all out and finally drove it and it did not make a 3 mile trip before it tore the three bushings out on the driveshaft side. I got online afterwards to see I missed the washers so I called revshift and they rebuilt it for me. Second round same thing I checked it out put the washers on torqued them all down and half mile down the road I had the same problem. I have read through the articles I could find and no one seems to have a clear answer. Just looking for some help from the wiser.

did you take picture of how it was installed? It sounds like something else is off and the coupler failure was obviously a result of that.

Sounds like you have a massive transmission/driveshaft misalignment. Time to get new mounts.

I think it is unlikely that both the OEM and revshift couplers were both defective. I find it more likely that something else in the drive line might be also suspect. My OEM coupler looked great at 105k miles when i pulled it out.

I took pics before and after. I thought the same at first but after I installed it right and it was tore in a mile I have something not right unless they got a bad batch of bushings. What is the best way to find the misalignment? I have about 105k also

They didn't get a bad batch of bushings. At 105k miles, you have bad motor mounts, transmission mount, and differential bushings. The OEM bushings on this car are known to go bad in less than 30k miles.

If I had to hazard a guess, your transmission mount probably looks like this:

Installing the Revshift transmission mount block will prevent it from sagging, bringing the output shaft of the transmission into alignment:

Your driveshaft carrier bearing could also be so bad that its eating couplers. Yeah at 105k i'd imagine you are overdue for a whoooole bunch of urethane replacements!

My carrier bearing is still good and so is my rear bushing on the back of the drive shaft. Trying to upload pic of my
tranny mount.
