I have a 2008 STS 3.6 and I need to replace the ignition coil to #3. Dealership wants $580 to do it, but it being Christmas season I need to save a few bucks. So, I may try this myself since the part is only $60. Is there a diagram or video anywhere that shows how to take the intake off? Has anyone every done this and can point me in the right direction? I find it odd for this thing to go out at 74K miles, it that common? Should I go ahead and knock out all 6 plus spark plugs since I am there?
Thanks Guys for the help! For those who may need it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=metBNZYKv1Q

Honestly if you cant look at it and figure it out, you really shouldnt touch it yourself.
Not that it's true for all manufacturers, but coils do fail unexpectedly. A tiny crack or moisture where it doesn't belong can cause havoc with fine wire & windings.

MrSanders - I had this same issue, twice actually. Read my thread here. If you have any questions afterwards, I'd more more than happy to answer: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-sts-forum-2005-through-2012/268261-2006-cadillac-sts-v6-surging-issues.html

Got it done, actually replaced all coils and spark plugs while I had the intake up. Much simpler than it appeared to be. 1BadCad, not everyone is a stud as yourself, I do not tinker with engines as a hobby. I am a Computer guy and musician. BTW did all plugs and coils for $400. Hope this thread helps the next poor chap...
