Just bought me a pair of these. I'm wondering if this was something that could be bought at a dealership or something that was given away with a purchase of a vehicle. Does anyone have any insight on the origin of these? I can't find anything searching the web about where they may have come from. Anyone else have any Cadillac cups they'd like to share?

I wonder if they won't tip over like normal cups on the "cup holders"...I mean glovebox lid.

Cupholders are barbaric. Only modern cars have those.

However, my Expeditions both have cupholders...In fact, they each come with more cupholders than seats...on a related note, anyone here ever drive a Platinum Escalade?

Where would you put your coffee cup while you text without cupholders ??

Nice mug. I occasionally have to do some clearing out of accumulated cups. They seem to come from everywhere!

My cupholder has slightly gray hair, a pony tail (on occasion), and drinks black coffee.

(BTW, if you Google "cadillac no spill coffee cup" you come up with many of those ^^ mugs - about $10 online.)

Hmmm. I've never been inconvenienced in that way and none of my cars (Including the Beater) never had any cupholders. Sounds like a First-World-Problem. I guess you could use them to hold loose change or something, but how often does one need loose change while driving?

No actually they're not everywhere online. Only ones I saw were on ebay (about 2) and they're gone as far as I know. And if they weren't, I wouldn't consider 5 or less on the entire internet as "many".

That is a nice mug, and it comes with a lid. My wife works out of the home so it doesn't need to fit a cupholder, I may have to get her one.
Why is "ESCALADE SRX XTS XLR" in the description? I don't see it on the mug. Are they just search words?

Yes. That's how Ebay works. You type in whatever you think is a common search into the title of your item, to hope it gets noticed more. If you're really stupid, you'll bid on anything that has the item you are looking for in it's title. I have seen what was plainly pictured and described as an empty iPad box sell for a little under $500.

I got one off ebay w/o the lid. I would guess it was a giveaway to dealer employees. GM was big on that sort of thing in the early 80's when I worked there. That is also when that style of mug was big. When cup holders were just becoming the big thing and a lot of cars didn't have them yet. I had one that style and it rode well on the flat dash of my 76 Cadillac!

If you really want the lid, just find/buy the cheapest such cup you can find and scrap it for the lid. It would seem that basically every major car-related (and even some out-of-the-blue) companies made them. They are all the same exact product, just with different emblems printed on them.

^I only buy those live. My pets don't eat dead things. I've tried, it just doesn't work.

Sometimes, I preserve them in jars though.
