: Adapting European DIC into Catera

12-17-12, 04:17 PM
I have a 1999 Catera and I was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it would be to put in the European version of the Catera gauge cluster with the Driver Information Center (DIC) and GPS?

Here is a picture of what the European version looks like, the DIC takes the place of the volt and oil pressure gauges.

What would I need top do the job? Sensors? GPS unit? I presume the gauge cluster will fit.

Thanks for the info,

you might want to find out if you can get north American maps for that gps first.
if so cool
you would need:
gauge cluster
wiring harness
gps antenna

How do u get the cluster and the wood grain kit

You will need the following.

Navigation radio NCDC 2011 / 2013 / 2015
CID (Color Info Display)
Navigation Maps
Wiring harness
GPS antenna + wiring
Needs to programmed with Tech 2

You will need to make some modification to the car wiring.

I wouldn't do it. Don't go looking for problems. However looks nice!

Where can I get that steering wheel, damn its nice, I really enjoy that wood grain it almost looks cherry, and seeing that manual transmission is making me jealous of the guys over the pond, and the speedometer '260' mine only says '240' another bonus for them chaps , now for the CID that doesn't need to be a GPS unit display does it? could it be used to display certain information from the computer? or any of the million and a half sensors this car has ? just a shot in the dark really.

You will need a NCDC 2011 / 2013 / 2015 to control the CID, without one of these HU you will not be able to get it to work.

Here some photo's, replacing to original radio CDR 2005 with MID to a NCDC 2015 with CID and a Telematica Unit and Bose.

Very nice. <3 the steering wheel, any one know where I can get one ?

Many thanks Kodan for the info. I guess it's not worth it since I would need too many pieces. And, the gauge cluster might not even fit.

I am surprised though that the Catera doesn't have any sort of DIC as other Caddies do. This Catera has a much better interior and way
more features than my neighbour's 01 Deville, which does have a DIC.

wow that's crazy, those cars have an image like crap over here :D no one wants them anymore, due to high taxes on the old diesel engines and the high gas prices.

What you are looking for is the Opel Omega of the model years 2001 and 02. I think, if you know what you need, you could get everything here from every local junkyard for not too much money, I mean, you can get the whole car for 1000 Euros :D like this http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/opel-omega-caravan-3-2-v6-executive-businessline-flensburg/168108335.html?lang=de&pageNumber=2&__lp=14&scopeId=C&sortOption.sortBy=price.consumerGrossEuro&makeModelVariant1.makeId=19000&makeModelVariant1.modelId=20&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariantExclusion1.searchInFreetext=false&minFirstRegistrationDate=2001-01-01&negativeFeatures=EXPORT&categories=EstateCar

I want to replace it with color graphical information display

That is possible, depends on what the current radio is.

and I will pay all the coast even if you need to come to Jordan I will pay for that too(Jordan is a Arab country near Israel)

That would be a challenge. :cool2:
