View Full Version : New Cadillac Logo Caddy Man 09-07-03, 10:34 PM What is all your opinions of the new cadillac logo?? Many people i have talked to find the older logo (the one that was used all the way up until 2000) to be much better looking. But I like the newer more contemporary style much better. I want to hear some opionions of what you think of the new logo. elwesso 09-07-03, 11:10 PM What does the new one look like..... I havent seen it......
Im gonna need some visual help on this one!!! Caddy Man 09-08-03, 12:46 AM the new logo is like the one in my avatar under my screename...its on all the 2002 and up models. the older logo is the one that would will find on 80's and 90's cadillacs. davesdeville 09-08-03, 01:37 AM I like the old one.. I don't like the way Cads have gone since about 1981, except maybe the newer fleetwoods. Yeah, we talked about this months ago. I'll say it again: "I really miss the duckies!" The old one seems more detailed and classy. The "old" one you refer to was used since 1966, and that's the one on my car, it looks great in gold. :worship: Caddy Man 09-08-03, 02:17 AM Yeah, we talked about this months ago. my bad i didnt know this topic was here a few months ago. I like the old one better...but i wish they would have jsut kept the one they have had since 1966. It seems whenever i get accessories for my car now, i have to make sure i have the older logo (they carry both logos on many things like licence plates, floor mats, valve stems), because i dont want the logo on anything in my car to clash. Sometime i wish i had the newer one on my car just because its the newer one and its up to date. But yes the duckies are nice. Peace. Katshot 09-08-03, 06:02 AM You guys might find this interesting.
http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/Coatarms.htm Caddy Man 09-08-03, 02:29 PM I purchased the framed display of the differnt cadillac logos from the dealer, and i have it sitting on my desk. They are pins with all the years under them. It says the newer logo came in 2000, but my 2000 Deville has the old logo as well as all the other 2000 models( yes i know cars come the year before their model year). Im not even sure if the new logo was being used until 2002 models. AKPsiMC03 09-08-03, 03:37 PM I like the new one... but it NEEDS ducks in it. elwesso 09-08-03, 05:18 PM No ducks, no go....... BUILDINGCTSAMG 09-08-03, 07:10 PM I debaged my cts's and put a new grill on and i am taking a classic one and getting it rechromed eventually, all in all i dont like the new ones that much Liseckas 09-08-03, 09:30 PM http://www.ephemeranow.com/images/TN/180cad46red.jpg Liseckas 09-08-03, 09:35 PM I will always be partial to Cadillac Crests of the past. Right now I don't believe that Cadillac deserves to have ducks on their crest since they don't have "all their ducks in a row". When they start building a product with quality then they can have ducks on their crests again.

Yeah, but the ducks were symetrical in two groups of three. I also liked the greater detail of the "wheat shards" on the old one. Haven't you heard, GM builds some pretty good cars nowadays. ;) It's like they have taken out so much from the emblem, they may as well just have a piece of wheat! El Dobro 09-10-03, 01:40 PM It doesn't matter much to me since it has changed down through the years anyway. The main thing is what it's attached to.
Now, what can GM do with the Chevy bowtie to modernize it? Add a propellor? eehoepp 09-10-03, 08:52 PM Now, what can GM do with the Chevy bowtie to modernize it? Add a propellor?
I'm sure BMW would have something to say about it if the Chevy bowtie morphed into a propeller!
I never really paid much attention to the Cadillac logo until this thread started. Had a close look at the logo on my 94's steering wheel. OK, embossed in vinyl isn't the best representation of the logo, but...
Gotta have the ducks. No ducks, no go. I'm sure BMW would have something to say about it if the Chevy bowtie morphed into a propeller!

That's just it. Don't the ducks go back a couple hundred years on the family crest?? I agree about the ducks, etc. and I don't know why they have changed it 10 times in the last 101 years. I guess people get bored, or manufactures think consumers get bored with products, so they change it to fit the times or make it exciting. I think if something looks good, and the product continues to sell well, leave it alone. People get too bored too easily. elwesso 09-11-03, 05:02 PM They did that...... FWD 90s cars (minus the FW)........ They did that...... FWD 90s cars (minus the FW)........
I don't know why they got rid of Fleetwoods, I think the name signifies quality, and the "top of the line" model. But I guess the name has been around for a while. (Fleetwood) :crying2: elwesso 09-12-03, 05:28 PM I think it was just its time to go...... You know, before everyone got sick of them....... Better to see them go because we liked them than if we hated them...... I think it was just its time to go...... You know, before everyone got sick of them....... And now everybody wants one again!! :bouncy: HollywoodHicks1 09-17-03, 11:03 AM Actually I like the new one better. The old one is cool and all, but the new one just looks so cool. I really miss the duckies though.:crying: But does anyone think that the new emblem would look good on an older version of a Cadillac...like oh lets say a 1990 Deville?:halo: I think that the Catera ate all the ducks. davesdeville 09-17-03, 05:20 PM Didn't the Catera have a duck as its mascot thing? Night Wolf 09-17-03, 06:55 PM at first, I never liked the new wreath and crest too much, now i like it alot........ the old one, which I have on my car all over isn't bad, but it just looks dated...
biggest changes are, no more 7 point crown, no more ducks, crest more streamined and the wreath's are too. Didn't the Catera have a duck as its mascot thing?
Yep. That's what I meant. The Catera was such a bomb that Cadillac felt they had to distance themselves from, or totally eliminate any evidence that might remind the public of the egg they laid. The Cindy Crawford ads were cool, though. (I've ALWAYS been hot for Cindy C.) "Rubber ducky, youre the one! Rubber ducky..."
Okay shoot me. :D
I think the problem with the old Cadillac logo, while it conveyed a strong heritage, was its overcomplexity. Complex logos tend to make them harder to remember and in the fast-paced ever-changing world of automotive commerce and production, things are easily forgotten.
Take a look at the Infiniti logo. Its a simple one that is supposed to represent Mt Fuji. Or even simpler, the Mercedes-Benz and Chevrolet logos. You cant forget those. But a with Cadillac, the first thing to come to mind is the name and the heritage, the crest comes last.
-Jesda elwesso 09-19-03, 04:40 PM Mt. Fuji........ I didnt know that.....
But yeah...... I like the simplistic idea...... Anyone can draw a BMW, MB, chevy, infiniti....... Try drawing a cadillac logo off the top of your head with little artistic ability....... Its not gonna happen.......
Although, it is better that the cadillac heritage comes to mind rather than the logo!!! davesdeville 09-19-03, 05:22 PM Take a look at the Infiniti logo. Its a simple one that is supposed to represent Mt Fuji.
I have no idea what the infinity logo looks like. I wouldn't recognise it if I saw it. The old logo, while complex, most people would be able to remember Id think. DaveSmed 09-30-03, 12:15 AM I like the big chrome Vee, but the hood ornaments looked like crap, with just the bare crest. scourge 09-30-03, 03:47 AM Huh? Intricate emblems indicate refinement and class. Bland represents balnd. Well, I guess the new crest personafies the new Cadillac.:( The older crests were always better and showed class back when Caddy was at the top of their game. AirJigga25 09-30-03, 06:35 PM "But a with Cadillac, the first thing to come to mind is the name and the heritage, the crest comes last.

no way. i love the crest on my hood. it def. comes to mind, def. not last!! elwesso 09-30-03, 08:33 PM I think if I were to get a cadillac, Id like to have an SLS with an STS grille..... Take off the emblem on the grill and leave the ornament..... I like having crosshairs on the hood!!! :D shaggygrosser 10-03-03, 10:24 AM I personally like the new logo. It's not too complex, but at the same time, not too bland and simple. All in all, a nice clean design... just like the Art & Science concept. protzler 10-27-03, 06:14 PM Personally, I think they changed it because they're aiming at a younger market, and the old logo would be considered "old" and 'un-cool' to todays youth. elwesso 10-27-03, 08:37 PM Im todays youth, and I think the old logo is cooler than the new one........
So there!!!! :D  JJhomer83 10-28-03, 12:45 AM Im todays youth, and I think the old logo is cooler than the new one........

Im youth too and i like the "old" styles much better. Bring back the ducks. Ducks = class scourge 10-28-03, 03:18 AM I'm still young...sorta, and I like the older design better too. It showed more class than the bland new one. brougham 10-28-03, 11:57 AM I like the older one better too, but I think the new design looks better on the new Cadillacs then the old one would. Well I'm not that old but my 2001 STS lost the ducks for the new logo. I just like the cleaner look. The old logo was just too "old man" for my taste.
Erik SupaFly 10-30-03, 10:26 AM :( I don't like the new one. It's very boring. But I guess it goes with the style of the car. :( I don't like the new one. It's very boring. But I guess it goes with the style of the car.
Ouch for 2000+ owners, but I could not have said it better myself! ;)
Fins and skirts=class. AirJigga25 10-30-03, 11:09 PM Ouch for 2000+ owners, but I could not have said it better myself! ;)

the new logos are fine, there's nothing wrong with them, IMO Ouch for 2000+ owners, but I could not have said it better myself! ;)

Ralph, I love the avatar buddy! Good to see another 4.9 brother out there (besides stoneage) Ralph, I love the avatar buddy! Good to see another 4.9 brother out there (besides stoneage)
Thanks Dude! The problem is I don't see it yet, maybe it's downloading or something. All I see is a square outline and a little red "x" in the corner of it under my name. Come to think of it, I only see everyone else's avatar's about half of the time!? 03EscaladeAWD 11-01-03, 02:41 PM I think it was just its time to go...... Better for them to leave while we hated them. Then we would become happier instead of sadder and madder as a result. :D lacmang 11-21-03, 12:15 AM I prefer the old logo anyday, but the new Cadillacs don't have as much style and class. I think its the most recognizable car logo ever. The new Cadillacs are as plain as the new logo though. They have nice features and it feels like your riding on air but they look boring inside and out. I've driven 2003 & 2004 Devilles the interior is plain and kind of looks like a 2003-4 impala interior. Anyways you know this logo will evolve eventually and the merlettes will be back and hopefully the unsurpassed style Cadillacs were known for too. OGauge4Me 01-25-04, 06:48 AM I was looking for information concerning the history of the Cadillac crest this morning and stumbled onto this thread. Very informative and a BIG THANK YOU to Katshot for posting the link to a site that had more history than I had time to read. I bookmarked the link and will return to finish my education. Thanks guys and gals this site is pretty nice. :bouncy: 84caddy 01-26-04, 02:43 PM I like the old one best...but the new one is still pretty clean |
