On my 06 sts nav screen during the playing of a cd ive noticed little folders at the bottom of the screen. I would assume that there is some way to actually store music directly to the system. True or false?

False...you can burn a cd with folders. As in drag and drop albums into the cd (the more you have the more seek time). Basically the cd will be in data format to allow more content. I have 58 songs in one cd (4 sub folders)

Yes, with MP-3 you can have about 10 hours, around 250 songs on ONE CD.
SO about 60 hours total on your 6 disk storage capacity.
Happy Holidays.:yup::yup::)

I've found it to be impossible actually.

1st Cadillac at 19, now on my 4th since. Everything else I've driven feels like a shit box, hell, my 2001 Seville had 233k on her when I sold her, drove better than most at that point even...

My first Cadillac at age 16 was a $100.00 1941 series 61 fastback 2 door once owned by one of the Fisher brothers. I have had many other since. Wish I still had the first.

My first at age 20 was a 1939 LaSalle ambulance that a guy gave me so I could use the transmission in a drag racer. We also made a trailer for hauling a tractor out of the frame and the body went over the riverbank to protect the bank from erosion.

You can have way more music if you burn mp3's on to a dvd. Then it feels almost limitless on the amount of music you could listen to.

No, dvd's go in the 6 disc stack just like a cd/mp3 disc.

4.7GB on a single layer, 8.5GB on a dual layer...plenty :) Although, I do have almost 5k songs on the 30GB iPod hooked up via the stock AUX input..plus XM.

I rarely hear the same song twice.

So sad, so sorry....

STS Bose will not play mp3 from DVD, only CD.

PS: Only the Map DVD goes in the top slot.

DVD's work fine in the 6-disk changer, just not for mp3's. DVD Audio, movies with Lockpick, etc.

Just as a note, I usually only play music from XM radio (channel 5 or 6) or listen to NPR while driving. Sounds OK, but not what I truly expected from 15 speakers. Then my wife inserted a store-bought CD - a Niel Diamond one - and WO WO WO! The sounds were like we were in a concert hall. The depth and range were unbelievable. 15 speakers - sounded fantastic. There is plenty of potential in the stock radio.

What if you convert the CD/MP-3 to DVD/MP-3,
like a "similar" program, Tipard DVD to Mp-3 converter ?
I think I have done this in the past, but did NOT use it much,
Or, MP-3 is MP-3..
So I may have forgotten how to do it.
Happy Motoring ! :cool2::cool2::cool2:

Going to look into this, just needs to read it as dvd audio, obviously won't be any video...

The fidelity quality of xm radio is substandard compared to a store bought audio cd or a well-tuned radio station. Non-the-less, I enjoy the variety of xm.

For DVD audio you need to "author" the DVD otherwise it's just going to be a DVD movie with chapters at each track point. I haven't found an authoring tool that is free / inexpensive.

XM bandwidth varies. Worst is compressed 50-12k.

DVD Audio can be as high as 8X 5.1 DTS.
