OK, just switched out the fair weather tires for the snows. Is it better to store them upright on the treads, or on the sidewalls. They are still mounted on the rims.

I would stack them on the sidewalls. There's a possibilty(a small one at that), but depending on weather conditions, they might go Out of Round. This would be due to a flat spot forming on the tread where the tire sat. If you store it on the sidewal, then you don't have to worry about that. Good Luck.

The TireRack has some suggestions: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/storingtires.jsp They don't specify which way to place them when they are off of the car. Probably not enough weight to matter. Check out the other tips though.
