I have a 2006 STS that I'd like to keep for a few more years. Does anyone know of a way to upgrade the Onstar/Stereo for Bluetooth for my cell phone and also to use as an mp3 for playing music? I've seen several aftermarket units but would like to hear if others have used them and how well they work.

Thanks,
Denis

The oem bluetooth doesn't support the A2DP Bluetooth profile. So if you were thinking of adding it somehow it would get you nowhere. You'll have to look at the suggestion above.
A2DP is the streaming stereo audio profile that is used for what you want.

Their website says its for 07-09, not 06.

So I guess the fact I have it in my 05 and it works kinda puts a dent in that huh?

I wonder why they're saying 07-09? No problems with the installation?

They likely never tested it on an 05 and cannot confirm compatibility.

Does the Upac connect to the radio and the Bluestar then to the Upac? I read in another older thread that the Upac was difficult to use. Any truth to that?

It's not as full-featured as it would be in a new car or aftermarket receiver. It hi-jacks XM and control is through the tuning knob. Download the instructions for your desired model/module before buying.
