If the failure is related to the engine, powertrain, drivetrain, etc., then yes. If you had a window motor go out, no.

Simple answer, yes.

You mess with the engine or PCM and any factory powertrain warranty you might have is out the window. Even install a so-called "CAI" or "catch can" in the PCV system and if something breaks you're out of luck. Aftermarket "extended warranty" sellers will not honor claims if the vehicle has modifications not specifically authorized by GM/Cadillac.

I'll bet your owner's manual has similar words in it somewhere.

You posted this in a forum seen by GM/Cadillac. Now they know you're planning to mess with the car.

Hi Justinschmidt,

Page 15 of your 2009 Cadillac Warranty booklet gives some helpful information on the topic, which I'll paste below for you.

"Some aftermarket engine performance products and
modifications promise a way to increase the horsepower
and torque levels of your vehicle’s powertrain. You should
be aware that these products may have detrimental
effects on the performance and life of the engine,
exhaust emission system, transmission, and drivetrain.
The Duramax® Diesel Engine, Allison Automatic
Transmission®, and drivetrain have been designed and
built to offer industry leading durability and performance
in the most demanding applications. Engine power
enhancement products may enable the engine to operate
at horsepower and torque levels that could damage,
create failure, or reduce the life of the engine, engine
emission system, transmission, and drivetrain. Damage,
failure, or reduced life of the engine, transmission,
emission system, drivetrain or other vehicle components
caused by aftermarket engine performance enhancement
products or modifications may not be covered under your
vehicle warranty."

We do monitor this forum to see where we can be of assistance, but I wanted to let you know I don't document any mentions of aftermarket issues on threads. We just strongly caution against it!

If you have vehicle questions at any point, please don't hesitate to contact me via email at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com.

Best,

Katie

I might add that any car with a salvage title has no warranty. This could be a car that has been in a serious accident or it could be a GM test car. Salvage titles have an orange border not green.
