I'm looking for a steering wheel for my 73 Eldorado. Hoping to find a nice used one before I dump a few hundred $$$ restoring my cracked original. Color is antique sandlewood but I guess it could be painted???
Anyone have any leads? Thx

There is one on Ebay.com: http://www.ebay.com/itm/73-74-1975-1976-Cadillac-Eldorado-Convertible-Deville-Steering-Wheel-Red-w-Wood-/290818559297?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b6230d41&vxp=mtr but no cheap.
You may restore your original wheel. Cracks can be fixed with a filler for plastic materials. Wood insertion can be fixed also. You can paint it the color you want using a spray can, applying thin layers. Talismandave restored his '74 wheel. You can check his restoration thread: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/classic-cadillac-forum/257194-help-bring-her-back-life-my-4.html
You may also check my '70 wheel restoration; wood insertion reproduction is easier (but not so impressive) than Dave´s.
Restoring your wheel will take you far more work but will be considerably cheaper than buying a good used one though you may try to find one at a yard first... You never know.

There are several services in Hemmings Motor News and other collector magazines that restore steering wheels. Heat, cold, and sunlight all take a toll on steering wheels.
