So last night I happen to notice my Parents acting weird, and they said the garage door was broke. So I went in there and when I opened the garage, there it was a brand new performance blue 2013 Focus ST. My Dad bought a Focus ST in 2005 which was a 150 horse 2.3 liter engine sedan and loved the performance, this car blows that out f the water.

Design, very European. Looks exciting, but not gawky. I was a big fan back when Top Gear tested the European model a couple years ago.

Interior is amazing. Soft touch materials everywhere, the seats hug you like they never will let you go. The ford my touch is a little confusing at first, but I figured it out quickly and now like it. The heated leather seats feel superior to the leather ford used to use almost supple. The stitching was impressive and the ambient lighting looks awesome and goes from blue to red upon opening the door. The controls for the system were straight forward and I have yet to have to pull out the book to figure something out.

Driving impression, this car does everything well even for a FWD car. The clutch is definitely performance orientated, and I love the feel. The shift pattern is tight and easy to find. The reverse lockout it a nice feature that the 05 also had. The handling is amazing and crisp, the brakes are intense and stop the car from a high rate of speed without much effort or fade. Feels like a lot more of a car than it is. It pulls hard all through the gears and IMO you never will need a faster car if you are on the street. The gauges are laid out for performance including the gauge pod on the center dash with the boost gauge in the middle. Even driving it aggressively (not pushing it to redline as it had 50 miles on it) I averaged 29 MPG in city driving.

I highly recommend this car for a fun DD, commuter car.

A stepdaughter in Gainesville, FL just - 3 weeks ago - bought a metallic gray 2012 Focus SEL with the max bells and whistles package. She drove it to the family Thanksgiving in Charleston, SC last week. I'm impressed - a lot of small car (too small, overall, for me) with right decent build quality. The thing is comfortable on the road and gets (for us Cadillac/truck drivers) stupendous gas mileage.

I like the blue ST also.

My brother has a Focus, but it is hardly comparable. While in excellent like-brand-new shape, it is not nearly as sporty as this year. I've actually driven one while in North Carolina (Friend's parents have one, but I prefer her father's Roo-Wagon) and it was a fun, little toy. The display gauges were rather Walt Disney World Tomorrowland Futuristic by comparison to even my Ford Fusion SEL V6, which was only a few years younger.

(I swear, they looked cooler lit up at night)

The nifty control system was pretty cool too. Much nicer than I would typically associate with the phrase "Ford Focus". Has a nice bellow to it's exhaust to it, for such a small engine as well.

One day, I'd like my brother to get off his arse and learn to drive and get a license (Yes, he owns a car, pays for it monthly and pays for fuel and insurance, but does not have even the slightest idea how to drive) just because there is an agreement to race it against the GTO...just because. Maybe then he can get rid of his base, optionless Focus and get a nicer one like this...Or an authentic fullsize (Since being the small one in the family and barely fitting in the car, I don;t know how my brother, who is a good foot taller, plans to drive that thing)

Man I'm going to say that is one damn impressive, ugly ass machine!!!!

Don't care for the shape or dash layout AT ALL, but I must say it is one hell of a piece. Really do love the seats, the turbocharged 4, and that anybody can dial in a front drive chassis to drive as well as that does is beyond me. Usually you get that much power in a front drive car it tends to torque steer you into a ditch and smoke the inside tire exiting a corner, but from what I've read Ford has managed to overcome both of those negative attributes.

Yeah, that dash is bit funky, but overall that looks like a pretty nice place to be. Don't they offer these with some crazy interior color combos too? That could be fun. :D

Man I'm all about wacko color combos, especially in the interior. Seems like you're lucky these days if you can order anything beyond monotone black, cubicle grey, or blah light beige that would stain if you looked at it funny.

What's the sticker on something like this? Mid 20's?

No idea on the ST pricing, new or used, but my stepdaughter got her 2012 SEL full boat used (program vehicle) with 18,600 miles on it for just under $18,000 out the door in Florida. (Blue Book is 19,700)

EDIT: It's a certified car from Gainesville Ford.

Starts at 23K this one is an ST3 which is the top tier with HID and Full leather (the half cloth ones are two tone) and stickered for about 28 I think. Not what we paid, but what it stickers for.

I hate the dash myself. And the interior space is lacking for its class.

I went to test drive one this afternoon and the dealer didn't have any. My brother and I also walked around for 30 minutes with zero help. Whatevs.

We then went to the sister Hyundai dealer next door. It was hopping like crazy. Had a great sales guy and my brother test drove an Elantra GT. Ford has some performance but the rest of the car, throughout their lineup, is blah. All new designs, all old in a heartbeat...
