: 98 catera gives heat only at high rpms

I figured out how to get heat in my Catera, I didn't think of turning the AC off, but since I have I've been getting some heat, but nothing that warms the car up in 10 degree weather. I've noticed more warm air driving, as expected, but nothing decent. But if I'd run at around 3000 rpms parked I'd notice that 90 felt like 90, 75 was 75, etc. I'm not an auto wizard so I don't know what's up, I wouldnt think that the car just takes forever to warm up, because I took it on the highway and around town for a couple hours with little heat increase. Anyone with good input to help me fix this gets my friendship. Thanks.

Could it be your Auxiliary Water Pump, (Driver side, next to battery)?

I believe that is the pump that circulates hot water to the heater core, but I am not 100% positive.
Check that it is running. If not, check the fuses and relay.

IIRC, the Auxiliary pump circulates the hotter coolant directly from the block, so you get hot coolant quicker.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
