I hope this is better than my Katech. already gone through two of them. clearing v's with one piece driveshafts would be nice too. I had to lower my cross member to clear.

Where in N. Cali are you? I wouldn't mind checking it out....

Vacaville....
The shifter is scheduled for delivery on Monday. I have the CS 8.8 so this should be a good indicator if it will clear the driveshaft.

I just checked out the website. They have some pretty sweet looking stuff. Hopefully it works out. I want an economical replacement for the sloppy stock shifter. My last car had a TWM short throw in it and it felt BEAUTIFUL

I've had the shifter for a week now. I sent Ralco a few suggestions to improve on their prototype and am waiting on their reply.

Hmm. Glad the market isn't dead for us V1 owners

Dead? This will be the sixth option for a shifter.

Dead? This will be the sixth option for a shifter. I get it that this is another option for a shifter but I'm just glad there's still interest in the V1 since the V2 trumps it. I like options and lets just be real and say there aren't a whole lot of options for this car compared to the others.
Back on topic though I hope this shifter works out since I will be in the market for a short shifter soon

I'm glad there is still a market for aftermarket CTS-V shifters also.

These cars are finally getting into the hands of people who want to modify them (IE they are getting relatively cheap) So i think you will see more support in the coming years than in the past (granted it will always be limited compared to mustang/camaro type cars)

I am really happy with mine so far. The bearings make for a smooth shift and it includes the bushings. As long as they took my suggestion It should be good.

What would you change about it if you don't mind me asking?

The shifter they sent me was a bit taller than stock and was put together so that the shift knob was turned slightly. I took the shifter apart and reclocked the knob and shortened it to slightly below stock. I passed my suggestions and do not know if those were put into the production run. The lower section is in between the stock and DIY position and just fits with the DSS driveshaft and revshift trans block. I can post pics when I'm back on a wifi connection.

Did it help with the side movement while in gear??

The side to side is in the transmission unless your bushings are worn out. The shifter is mounted solid so there is no movement from it.

The stock bushings cause side to side play, even when they are new.

Here are some pics comparing the Ralco shifter to the stock/DIY shifter.

This is how it arrived before I modified their beta version.

This is their supplied bushing (right) next to a CS bushing.

This is how the knob sat on their beta. I fixed that also.

After I modified.

I also had to modify the end where the shifter knob locks down. There is a bevel at the tip which was not on the Ralco shifter. Without that bevel it was very hard to remove the shift knob. After I ground in the bevel it made it easier while still securing the knob.

As I mentioned before, after I did those changes I am very happy with the shifter. It is nice and smooth on my 25K mile trans and the change in throw was enough for me.

So they fixed the issues from the beta into their production runs ?

shifter was in good alignment. I didnt compare overall height but installed, it looks to have a shorter appearance. As the lip holding the knob on, it holds extremely well and now i cant get knob off. Maybe i was just tired after doing oil change, filter cleaning, coolant leak fix and then shifter install all at once.
I have not felt any other shifter so i cant compare to any other model but compared to the oe shifter its awesome.

Did you replace the shifter bushings as well?? Did you have any side to side play in gear before or after?

05txctsv

the shifter included new bushings, and just about all the side to side play is now gone (just very little play now). The oem bushings are junk.

Only thing is the lip holding the knob on should be shaved a little bit. Shift knob is very hard to remove now.

Ordered mine about half year ago just never had time to install until yesterday. well mine shifter for some reason did not come with bushings so i ordered extra from creative steel. side to side play is drastically less. as far as shifts it doesn't feel that much shorter......

Are you sure you didn't have an aftermarket replacement already? My Ralco shifter was much shorter. I would nearly hit the HVAC controls in 1/3/5/R with the factory shifter. No where near that now.

hmm maybe i was expecting it to be as short as short throw on my friends c6 is. Don't get me wrong its day and night difference, it feels like it should have been that way from factory :D
