: Turn Signal Won't Lock

I'm new to the classic car world and working on cars in general and recently bought a 1967 Coupe DeVille. I have taken my car to a friend's mechanic to take care of a few small things that I don't have time to mess with yet, and one of the problems is the turn signal works, but will not stay in the locked position during the turn. Unfortunately, even though no one in Texas uses their turn signals, the signal staying on automatically is required to pass inspection here. Anyone know what part I need to get for him to fix this? I have a telescoping steering wheel. I greatly appreciate any insight on this. Thanks for helping a newbie.

Without removing the steering wheel and an inspection, I would assume the small springs on the turn signal switch are broken. A worse case scenario would be the plastic canceling cam is broken as well. You might find a repair kit for the cam thru the "HELP" brand products sold thru many parts stores?

Sounds like the turn signal cam to me.
