i have a 96 sts and my traction control light is coming on alot now for no apparent reason. It also feels like the transmission will not use 1st gear to pull out or downshift to when this light is on. I assume the computer keeps it out of 1st to limit wheel spin with the traction control off?

Your assumption is correct. Enter the onboard diagnostics and pull the codes. That will likely tell you where the problem lies. These cars are very good at self diagnosing. Cadillac, heal thy self.

My traction control light comes on quite a bit as well, but there's definately a known reason for it. };-> :burn:
