: 2005 ESCALADE ESV couple issues

I bought our 2005 Escalade ESV this last summer and bought the highest extended warranty they offered. (Was actually recommended this warranty due to the amount of coverage it insured) Was told it would cover everything bumper to bumper except normal wear and tear parts like brake pads, tires etc. Was told it would cover all the electrical, front end, power train, suspension etc. I have looked through the warranty and it covers a but ton of stuff. So..... here's my problem. We have been getting a lot of rain here in Washington state as of late and noticed under the passenger front floor mat that the floor was soaked. I noticed its leaking water from under the dash and down the carpet and pooling at the bottom Never had this issue to date. But we havent had rain like this since I've owned it. Its not coolant its defiantly water. So I called the warranty company to check if they cover the leaks and find out that it doesn't. I am not very happy with that so I then ask if it covers my heated/cooled seats as the lower seats dont heat/cool but the upper seats do. Was told no. It covers the rails not the heated or cooled seats. I am pissed now. Asked about the engine, tranny etc and it covers all the most expensive items along with most electrical but was told to contact the dealer that sold me the warranty. So I call the dealer (sales manager) and explain and they are not too happy (with the sales person who sold us the warrenty). So he takes my info and tells me he will call me back. Got a call back from the service manager asking what the problems were and I explained to her the issues and she said not a problem that she was sorry for the mix up and that they will take care of all the issues at no cost to me and even supply me with a loaner vehicle. I will be dropping it off next Tuesday as we are heading out of town for the Holiday. SO I hope the leak is nothing major but hope it all gets fixed. Sorry for the novel but I needed to vent a little. Does anyone have any ideas on the 2 issues I am having? oh also this is not a Cadillac Dealer.

It's possible that the leak could be from a poorly installed replacement windshield or possibly a bad seal in the passenger door jam. As long as the warranty you purchased gets it fixed, it ultimately doesn't matter really. I hoped it gets taken care of for you. Let us know how it turns out.

True plus it can be a bad weld at the firewall(my previous car had this) causing the leak

I'll keep this updated with the results. The warranty company said no coverage for leaks. The dealer said they would take care of it.

The warranty company should be told to shove the policy at least the dealer is doing you right.

Did you have to pay for your warranty up front? or are you making payments on it? If you're making payments i would look in to another warranty. I have one from CARCHEX. they email you the contract with a list of items covered based on the package you pick. It's very simple.. if it's not listed in the contract (and they go in to pretty good detail) its not covered. I ended up with a "bumper to bumper" on my 04 ext and have used it 2 times and gotten my moneys worth plus some already. I have been very happy with it and my friends and customers who i recommended Carchex to are also very happy.

Keep us posted!

The warranty is factored into the loan. I will be chatting with the sales manager again next week when I drop it off and find out why I wasn't offered the 5 star warranty. I was signed up for the next one down which does not cover some things. The price difference wasn't much from what I found out so I will try and get them to upgrade me as I was told by the finance department I was covered for everything but normal wear and tear parts such as brakes etc. This was not the case and I would have opted for the 5 star. (i wasnt offered nor told about 5 star) The 5 star cover EVERYTHING The 3 Star covers 90% of the vehicle.

Sounds like someone has tried the slight of hand trick on you say one thing and do another

Those aftermarket warranties can be a lifesaver, more often than not they aren't. Simply depends on the car and how often the person wants to pay the deductible to use it. One thing is certain, they are an item that is marked up 100% and quick way for the dealer to make money, especially if its rolled into the dealer financing. Good luck, I truly hope your truck is fixed!!

Well. Dropped her off this morning to fix the leak, heated seats (lower seat on pass and driver doesn't work) and fix the cigarette lighter. There also going to go through and check everything on the escalade. Suspension, air ride etc. Bad news is they called this afternoon said it would be there until Tuesday. Good news is we have a new 2012 ford explorer to use until we get our caddy back. They told me they will call me daily with updates. The guy that deals with water leaks is backed up 4-5 days. This the reason for the week out. I'll keep this updated as I find out.

I hope so too. But they said its no charge. They were super nice and no questions asked. I told them I would be speaking with the sales manager once all was taken care of about the warranty issue and why I wasn't even offered the top tier one. so maybe I can get them to upgrade me. We will see

I have an 04 f350 DRW diesel and love it. So the ford loaner is not a problem. I grew up with fords and my dads a FORD MAN and this is my first GM product EVER. I love the Caddy though.

My dad is the same way he used to work at ford but now he drives a hummer h2(thanks to me talking him into it) still can't get him to stay away from ford though and yet he likes my caddy almost as much as I do.

There supposed to fix the lower heated and cooled front seats and the cigarette lighter along with the water leak. I am not convinced its a heater core. The water pool on the floor was not coolant. I was never low on coolant and it never smelled nor tasted like coolant. Lol. I'll find out more tomorrow.

FYI there is a drain pipe on the firewall near the hvac unit which can get plugged I had this happen to me with my car pine needles got in there next thing I know I see water dripping around the blower cleaned it and the problem went away

UPDATE! Finally got her back. They replaced the heater core. Replace the heated seat elements on front passenger and drivers seats, replaced cigarette lighter and cleaned out the sunroof drain line. All at no charge. It took so long because they were sent the wrong seat elements and had to reorder. 2 weeks in the shop. Great customer service. They could have told me to go pound sand but they didn't.

SO!!!! That stupid leak came back. So the dealer has arranged for me to take it to a collision center as they specialize in water leaks. Stopped by and talked to the owner of collision center and apparently there are several areas that the leak can come from. Which I new from doing some searches. One that he said might be the culprit is apparently there is a drain under the cowl. All the searches I have done on the internet not one said there was a drain there. So with where the leak is coming in from that might be the actual area. I will be dropping off next week and he assured me it will be fixed before it leaves them. He also said he will look at all possible areas and not to worry. This was the owner I had talked to at the collision center. i will update once done.

Yes it does have the sunroof but I already checked those and they are all clear. Water tested and water ran through all the way out to the ground. Full stream. lol. Theyareas around those holes were not even dirty. So I suspect another area of where the water is coming in. if you look are the floor board and look up to the middle of the lower dash where you feet would kick there is a small hole the size of your thumb. thats where its wet and the water will drip or run down the carpet tto the lowest point of the floor. I have shoved a small towel in that hole along with another towel on the floor to keep absorbing the water.[COLOR="Silver"]

Dropped escalade off today at the collision center my dealer told me to go to about leak and they found it. It was leaking from the drains under the cowel. They didn't see any other leak. They did remove the carpet and padding and said I can pick it up tomorrow late afternoon. They want all the padding and carpet dried and treated before they let it go. Said they didn't find any others leaks. Thank god.

Got her back a d she is all fixed. Leak was under cowel and leaking into the blower motor then the motor would sling the water into the floor board. After resealing everything and drying everything out and retesting, leak is fixed. He said he's never seen that type of leak. Said it was odd. If I had to pay for that it would have cost me 394.67. Dealer paid for it. Happy New Years everyone !

I think that's exactly what happened with our 05. I just replaced the blower control module and we have a leak with wet carpet in front on both the drivers and pass sides. Unfortunately the unit I got off Amazon was defective. The blower now runs constantly, even with the key out of the ignition! I would have returned it but the housing was slightly different and I had to cut the leads to swap the circuit board. So I'm out $97. I suspect the bad component is the transistor which is only around $6, so I will order a couple and try to repair one or both of the control modules.

Still have to find the leak though. Not sure the "cowl" leak would explain water on both sides. Ironically, like rfishoutofwater, I also live in Washington and have been getting soaked by lots of rain.

Dumb question. I'm assuming the hvac module is referring to a control unit in the cab, vs. the actual AC compressor in the engine compartment.

Thanks.

No problem, it would help if I knew my way around the Escalade better.

One more question, I'm assuming the hvac drain is for AC condensation, so would this be a likely source of rainwater leaking into the cab?

BTW, I just ordered a couple of transistors to repair the blower control modules. I'll post results in a week or so. If it works, repairing the control module could save someone else over a hundred bucks.

The drain is for both the ac and rain water and is the source of the water getting into the cab

Also if you can get the repairs to work on the modules that would be great as I know there has been others that had to replace the module due to the same problem

Thanks for clearing that up. Haven't run the AC since last September so definitely not a condensation issue. It looks like I have to dig into the dash to access the hvac drain. I'm assuming the hvac housing is somewhere in front of the center console under the dash. Don't want to take anything apart that I don't have to. Any hints would be appreciated.

I will be sure to post results with the module repairs whether they work or not.

Thanks again.

You won't have to take the dash apart to get to the drain hose it is on the outside in the engine bay on the passenger side of the firewall just snake a wire in the hose to clear it out and the water issue should go away
