So my Escalade had a GREAT day today! Couldn't have gone any better to plan, both bumpers arrived at almost the same time and I was able to get everything installed (including exhaust) all in no time or stress at all. I upgraded the front end to the new Platinum Premium (half paint matched) and installed the new OEM dual exhaust rear bumper with custom exhaust (wasn't going to drop big $$$ on oem exhaust). I also gloss black vinyl wrapped the window trim; I'm still on the fence about this one whether I like it or not. Anyways, on to the pics.....

Looks great! Just curious does it still have the same escalade rumble with the dual exhaust or did it loose a little throat?

Sad question :( suprisingly it lost a little throat. I thought taking out the resonator would give it a little more rumble but I think it actually got queiter

In the first pic it looks like its a pretty big gap where the hoof and top of driver side headlight meet? Is it really that noticeable or does it fit like old grill? All in all looks pretty damn good front and back!

The blacked out window trim is so subtle, I had to go look at mine to see what you did. Once I saw the diffence though, I loved it. Brilliant idea.

Plus one on tne rims...I really like the body color spokes.

I didn't notice it until you said something, I think it's because the truck is white is the reason it's more noticeable. Mine was white, looking at these pics I almost miss it. BTW the truck looks good.

Looks awesome.
No spare?

Someone had a topic on here about ordering a new escalade and they said the salesman asked him if he wanted a spare tire or dual exhaust. You can't have both because of the solid axle.

K9Caddy
11-20-12, 03:19 PM
You can have both, it has been done before and someone on here has it. I believe the tire might touch the exhaust a little, but shouldn't have any ill effects.

baggedlvintegra
11-20-12, 04:25 PM
not true, there is no way to keep the spare and have the dual exhaust bumper, unless they are running .5" flat pipe for exhaust

K9Caddy
11-20-12, 04:44 PM
It was definitely modified, but it was done. Do a search my friend...

I don't make this crap up.

There's a kid on TYF who's been repeatedly banned for posting nonsense about other peoples' eskys with premium bumpers and claiming them as his own.

He did post pic of a Tahoe that did the conversion and kept the spare. Of course the main problem with it is that the exhaust pipe is so close to the spare that it either ignite it or melt it rendering it useless. The other problem is that the premium bumper does not have a hoist access point, so unless you're prepared to drill in a new premium bumper to create one the spare becomes moot. Also, the hitch cover width is narrower, so to drill a hoist access hidden behind it you'd also have to modify the hoist access tube itself to re-angle it in a location inside the hitch cover.

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it practical or even advisable? Not really.

A lot easier to get a emergency tire kit like the hybrids and the stock dual exhaust eskys come with.

Yup that's the one.

You can't get it that way from the factory. I don't know why they call themselves the standard of the world when they don't even have as an option what the competition has standard. Full sized spare under the floor with dual exhaust 2013 GL450

Baggedlvintegra,

What is the name of black vinyl product you put on the window chrome? Do you apply it yourself?

Thanks!

baggedlvintegra
11-22-12, 12:05 PM
texas1...Yes, once I get the color refined to 100% match I'm going to do the fender vents, door molding and rear lift gate applique like the 2012 Premiums

Carneros Red...It's just a roll of gloss black vinyl, you can get it from several places but I just order it from http://www.bmwshadowline.com/shadowlinevinyls.html because that is where I always got it when I did my BMWs. You'll need the 3" Gloss Black Vinyl Roll. You will honestly maybe use like an 1/8th of the whole roll but atleast you have some as backup.

All you need is the platinum hood and lights to complete the "clone" look for exterior

What's the difference between platinum hood and regular hood?

I thought the Premium/Platinum hood was different at the edge, receded differently to accept the wider molding.

Or are the two moldings interchangeable on the same hood?

The moulding is interchangeable, same hood.

Okay ... learned something new today. :)

I wonder why baggedlvintegra didn't buy the new molding to color match so that it lines up better with the new bumper lines. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10883&d=1327069319

I didn't buy the platinum hood chrome either. Here it's an extra almost $300. It doesn't look bad with the smaller chrome piece.

Because with the Premium Painted Platinum Grill it actually looks decent with the non-platinum chrome hood molding because the hood molding only extends out to the chrome part of the grill and not to the outer painted edge of the grill (chrome to chrome), however now that I can paint match for cheap due to the plastidip I am going to order the Premium Platinum paint to match hood molding and go ahead and complete the conversion.(extends painted to painted)

Love the look of your Escalade, I am in Australia and have just purchased my first Escalade ESV, did you order the front and back bumpers from GM or did you get them from somewhere else. I am wanting to do my Escalade the same way with the platinum grill.

^^^ needs to have the LED headlights and tail lights to complete the look, wheels are not really a big deal so no real need to change those.
Why the did GM decide that the EXT gets to share the Avalanche tails rather than having the LED tails? :(

Thank you, that's a big help... Fog lights, headlights, etc all fit without needing to change them? And u said direct bolt on so no mods needed?
