I just replaced the front and rear shocks, with oem, both mounts, all wheel bearings, control arms, all brakes, my question is that i feel my 2001 sts still rides better, my guess is because the difference in rubber, i was thinking about going and driving a lower mileage dts to see if mine is just more rough, than it should be. I forgot to mention i just had a four wheel alignment done, and the car is an 06 dts base with 128k
I do not know the brand names & model numbers of your DTS and STS. One of the factors affecting the rubber performance is a Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG) Rating or a tread wear value. In other words, the tires with lower UTQG values like 140, 200, 300, etc will run quieter than the tires with higher UTQG values of 500, 600, 700, etc. On the other hand, the tires with lower values would NOT last as long as with the tires with higher value. This is just a personal preference and of course you can factor the price as one of the criteria when buying the replacement tires.
The tread wear rating does not necessarily indicate how quiet or firm riding a tire is. The tread design has much to do with noise, and carcass design effects stiffness.
