I have a 1994 STS with a 4.6L Northstar. It has 140,000 miles on it. It is slow to crank, but fires up and seems to run good. It has a noise that sounds exactly like a power steering pump going bad. I took the belt off and it seemed to get better. The tensioner pulley had a bad bearing, so I replaced it, put the belt back on and the noise was the same. Any suggestions?

fluid level alright? possibly air in the pump, or God forbid, a dying pump

I have checked all the fluid levels. It does seem somewhat better with the belt off but the noise is not gone :( . Is there a problem inside the front timing cover that could cause this. This car has been nothing but trouble. tons of codes in the memory, rear brake light strip only 1/4 works, left front ride control sensor is broken in half, turn signals blink too fast. I must say right here that I am a state certified technician but don't have any experience with Cadillacs nor any manuals. This will be changing as I bought a 1995 deville with a 4.9L Saturday. Take possesion tonight! Can't wait :D !
