I know that, personally, I am PSYCHED about the upcoming Corvette.

It's said that it won't be a huge design overhaul, however, it will have new unique design cues which will differenciate it from the recent c6 model. In further note, it will NOT feature flip-up headlights as seen on the c1-c5 generation models.

What do you guys think? Will you pick one up when it hits showroom floors?

I won't be able to afford one, so the last question is a resounding no, sadly. From the spy shots I've seen, it looks like a show stopper. That and 30+ mpg? What's not to like?

C1s didn't have flip up headlights either, FWIW. :p

We'll see when the real one comes out what it looks like. I love the C6, personally, so if it's close to that? Awesome.

In the Same boat! Lol. Wish I could buy one. Corvettes have gotten pretty good gas mileage since the LS-1 was introduced in the C5. With the 6-spd tranny, they've always been good for over 30 mpg. Very impressive. But that's bc on 6th gear at 70 mph, they are only pegging about 16-1700 on the rpm's. My buddy with the trans am WS-6 he had, LS-1 6 spd, he could ave 32-33 on the highway.

Neither did C2. Flip ups weren't on the scene until the 1963 model.

Either way 63 was first year for pop up lights. I thought it went 53-55 was C1. 56-62 C2. 63-83 C3. 84-96 C4. 97-04 C5. 05-present C6

62-67 C2
68-82 C3

84-96 C4
97-04 C5

C1 didn't have flip up, my mistake. Yeah it'll be expensive as heck, but it'll be worth it!!

Looking forward to see what they push the boundary with ZR1-wise.

No 1983 Corevette?

Oh, I know why.....

'80s Commercials (shoot, car comercials from the 80s and before) are a FREAKING RIOT! :histeric:

Yep. There were serious quality control issues with the C4 (considering the C3 spanned for 14 years, you'd wonder how...), so GM pushed it back a year.

Nice evolution of the crossed flags emblem:

Fun fact: originally the red half was supposed to be an American flag.

The official unveil will be 1/13/13 at the Detroit Auto Show; this is a major model redo with the new 'LT1' direct injection with variable valve timing (new gen) V-8 engine touted to produce 450 plus hp. Sadly out of my price range as well (but a Corvette enthusiast none the less).

Yeah the "new" LT1 looks awesome. Direct injection, VVT? 450hp? 30mpg?

Sign me up.

If the renders/photos I have seen are the real deal I am pretty psyched for it. The interior is finally supposed to receive some well needed attention and the exterior, while it loses a little Corvette DNA, looks like a world-beating car. And it needs to be, leaving aside the rest of the world, the domestic competition is REALLY heating up of late.

im excited , but also dreading it. Im hoping the renders are false because i see WAY to much Skyline GTR in it , it needs to be original.
but i am hoping that it gets the small detail at the top of the rear window like the daytona prototype vette has , nice nod to the 63
