: 2 Front Splitter Designs

soon to V

Iíve designed two front Splitter designs for my own V and have been selling them by word of mouth/ebay Ė keeping it low key (since its just a hobby for me).

As such, Iím now letting you V forum users know that Iíve found a supplier who can make these in small lots, and with great quality. So I now have both versions in various finishes in stock. One (Chin Splitter) blends the gap in the center front and uses the stock side splitters, and another (Full Splitter) comes with my own Wing Splitters to make a 3 piece design with a more aggressive track like appearance (which also makes some additional down force).

Iíve made a site to show and sell if any of you are interested: V2VDesigns.net

Note all profits will just go back into more mods for my own V! I have to keep those nice German cars behind me on track you know (still canít get some of those fast Porsches)!

Check out the web site or the Authorized Vendors Classified.

Thanks!

very cool design. personally i respect and appreciate what you are doing. making a solid product for the enjoyment of doing it for yourself and sharing it with others at a VERY reasonable price. as soon as i destroy my stock splitter trim, i will be very interested in one of your splitters.

well done!

Thanks. Yes this is a combination of Bespoke, Community, and some Extended Design fun by sharing some of my ideas. Not about competing or a startup; just dabbling and see what comes. That said, I'll try to not leave any customer hanging. If I make a little money fine. I'll just end up spending it with all the other V vendors for "more V fun"!

I should say my design approach was to first fill the front gap, and second to design a splitter that is like what you see on ALM/Rolex/Continental tire etc cars; except with a little more style and restraint. The 3 piece design works with existing lines, provides a little uniqueness and keeps costs down. Its also easier to ship! No rocket science.

looks good, I'll bet alittle putty (where the pieces join) and plasti-dipped (on car), you'd never know it was a 3 peice design. (what i plan on doing,... but feel free to do it too)

soon to V
11-09-12, 08:11 PM
Hadn't thought of that. Yeah, I bet that would work. Black silicone caulk would also work and still be able to be pulled off easily later if need be. In case you or anyone is wondering, some of the reasons for the 3 piece design are:
• Allows the Chin Splitter to be used in two different positions (conservative or aggressive).
• I also liked the lines lining up with the lower grille.
• Easier to wrap
• Easier to repair (just each piece and not full Splitter)
• Easier to ship
• Tabs and bolts together for greater strength

Is this a spray on or a wrap over? Would like to know more and see the end result!

Well, it WAS going to be a wrap over, but because of the roughness of the BITCHIN Di-Noc, it has a "bubbled" look.
So, I'll just put the splitter on and hope for the best. Its easy enough to re-wrap if necessary. Very excited about install.
There is a liquid type protectorant that can be applied to the front by "painting" it on that hardens up into a clear coating, then peels off. I will use it for track days and long trips.

Now, if I can only remember the name of it......

lol yah, no fake tracking numbers and reliable business practices is a good thing. mike, i wanted to inquire about the rear valance peice, and if you would/could
do a stock style design without the two reflectors (wrapped in di-noc). is it possible? also d3's lid spacer as their prices are insane. ;) seems like normal/fair pricing and volume sales makes more sense to others also. congrats on making an affordable quality peice for the V comunity. muchas gracias.

Got it! I would have been surprised if another layer of film would have gone down clean, but I suppose if it was heat shrunk it could possibly be done. To repeat, I gloss it up with Turtle Wax Trim Restorer (acts as a bug bouncer too); I don't use wax on the wrap. I've also done like 5 or 6 track days with mine and no signs of damage at all. I've taken quite a few 100 mph bugs and racing rubber chunks and skid marks - and my Splitter is holding up better than my paint and even my chrome on hood (I should tape mine up like your pic, but I haven't yet. Cool pic by the way). Everything cleans right up.

All I have handy right now is a few poor pics from some of my early development of the side Wing Splitters. Yes, technically they can be used by themselves, you will just have to cut the notch off that locks it into the center Chin Splitter piece. This is not big deal and can still be wrapped or painted.

Havasusteve
01-11-13, 06:40 PM
Yes sir. The silver vents are also separate from the bumper. Once the 3 PITA plastic tabs are removed, the 4 addition plastic tabs secure the plastic vents. Once these are removed, it's fairly easy access to the silver "V" shaped retaining clips. Then the red reflectors can be removed via one nut each side.

Sorry friend. Just not enough time to go around for that little project. Good luck to you though!

No worries at all. After running a few businesses myself extra time seems to be a jewel we cannot afford haha. Last try for me. What if I got 9 other stsv members for a run of 10? If not worries at all. :) thanks

Well you are a persistent bugger, I'll give you that! :) The good nature side of me would love to help, but the fact is, production is the easiest piece of the deal. Its all the time it takes to design, fit, test, and do over many times until I'm happy with the result. I would go through 10 splitters just to get one I'd be good with - so that's why I have to keep saying no! Yep, time is that jewel!
