Only recently joined the forums & wanted to say hello & ask the DTS "sages" a question about the Nav system
in my '09 Platinum. I bought the car in August to replace an '06 Lux III model that did not have the Nav system.
From time to time a blue screen will pop up saying " the disc installed is not a map DVD". Sometimes it will
clear and start working again, and sometimes I have to eject the disc and put it back in before it will begin
working. I can be parked or moving when this happens and it seems to be random. the disc is quite clean.
I'm still under factory warranty and could take it in for service, but thought maybe this is just a quirk of the system??
If your disk is nice and clean and it has no scratches... it is more than likely the Nav unit itself.
Take it in.. explain what it is doing and have it checked.
Even if it is OK when you take it in... you now have the problem documented in the GM computer system.
Of course it would be better to have them actually SEE it doing it, but sometimes that just isn't possible.
Mine would randomly reboot about once a month when just driving down the road... radio would go off and when I looked at the screen it was rebooting.
After a couple of trips to the dealer and complaining, they replaced it.
Asguard726, I just wanted to let you know I'm available if you do decide to take your DTS to your dealership for a diagnosis! Email me anytime at Katie_Lucile@gmexpert.com and I can investigate further and call the dealer on your behalf.
Thanks to everyone for your comments. I had not thought of taking it to the dealer to document the problem. That seems a good idea!
I have taken several pictures of the screen with my iPad at various times when it stops working. Perhaps the dealer will take them into account.
I took vehicle to dealer in late November, service techs looked at what the Nav unit was doing and decided the unit was bad not the disc.
A new Nav unit was ordered and I took it in today for the install. They had it ready this afternoon and you would never know anyone had been
in the car. All I had to do was reset my preset buttons. It worked perfectly on the thirty mile trip home. Glad it was covered under warranty. The
service tech said it was nearly $3,000 to replace it...yipes!!

Superjim,
In the last week before the part came in and they called me to make the install appointment the Nav unit started doing what you describe.
I'd look down and the screen would be black and seconds later come back up like rebooting. Then just switch to the blue screen saying the disc installed is
not a Nav disc. The radio however always functioned normally. Wonder how many others had this happen? Possible design flaw?
Dan
What would cause me to notice it would be the radio would go off for like ONE SECOND... I would look over at it and see the NAV rebooting.
I haven't heard of anyone else that had the rebooting problem.
