I have an 05 STS AWD. Im about to order the Lorenzo WL32 in a 22x8.5 with a 40 offset (need high offset for AWD). This should tuck nicely. My question is tire sizes. the car came with 255 45 17's in the rear and 235 50 17's in the front. Initially i was thinking about going with a 245 30 22 on all four tires (in order to rotate tires). But with the high off set tucked deep in the wheel well I was considering going with a 245 30 22 in the front and a 265 30 22 in the rear, just so the tires wont look so narrow when you view the car from the rear. I also heard that the 265 would give me a little bit better ride because your putting more rubber on the road. I dont drive this car daily so tire rotation is not as important. Just wanting to get some quality opinions from the guys currently rocking 22's on their STS. All the old school haters with uninformative negative comments please stay OFF me thread!!!!!!

I agree with you on wider rear tires but a 265/30/22 will be slightly taller than a 245/30/22 causing the car to "rake" more and in my opinion they have too much of a rake from the factory. It will be a very small amount but it will be there so be careful of that...

Should be the same 30 sidewall height...just different widths.

the sidewall height/number is a percentage of the width/number...so tires with the same sidewall number but different width numbers will have a different height.

Decent choice in wheels and I have a set I use on the Cayenne from time to time so I won't rip you too hard for putting them on an STS, but I say get the 10.5's on the rear with a 25mm spacer, stretched 265, slam it, and get some adjustable control arms for the negative camber you're going to have to run. Practical? No. Comfortable? No, but do it anyway.

i have 265 30 in the front and 285 25 in the rear but i wish it was a 315 25 in the rear and a 265 25 in the front but they dont make em in that size. that pearl sts looks nice, butler tires does good work and is known for it

If its AWD, don't the tires need to be the same height front & rear. I'm not familiar with the AWD, so don't bash me. I have 295/25/22 rear with a 255/30/22 front & it's hugely obvious the widths are different. The height is dead even though if the height of the tire is a concern for AWD.

25's...sick sidewall height!

An AWD has 3 open differentials. The issue is with the traction & stability systems. Proper operation requires the same circumfrance tires on all wheels.

Some members owning a RWD STS have reported issues with tires different than OEM.

Are you running a 22' wheel? Is your car awd? does the 265 30 in rub in the front?

I know 255/45-18 don't rub in front on an AWD w' MRC.
