I was at NTB for an alignment. The d00d showed me they were going to be released. So we check the Tire Rack site.

I didn't get them. My alignment was off enough to eat away my front Hankooks in the few thousand miles from when I checked them before my trip to MN and back. The right inside was almost bald while the rest had close to 70%. So I replaced them a couple weeks ago. Ugh.

But, since the rears are at, or under, 50%, hopefully next spring.

And, yeah, 295/35 19 will be the choice...

Okay, I'm being lazy. What's front sizes are you using to go with the 295/35-19 rears?

Don't feel like tracking down the miataweb tire-sizer thingy.

My RE-11's are on their last legs. I'm having lots of fun stepping the tail out on EVERY corner.

iirc the SS's are in the correct front size. it's the rear's that are the funky shape.

^^^ - I will eventually go with the 265/40/19 fronts, and 295/35/19 rears. Another peep already did this and said they work out great.

Got it--I was curious if tbjs was going with a non-factory front size to better match the rears and expand the contact patch.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks, Rob.

The fronts were what was missing. Now they're here, which is why I posted the Tire Rack link for that size.

The 295/35 19 actually better matches the stock front...

I was wrong.
Neither size is available on the SS"s.

Why weren't these tires stock? Seems like a better tire, stickier, cheaper, and lasts longer. I don't see the downside.

I can only imagine because by the time they were released we were >half way through the CTS's product cycle, and planning a something like a tire change is a big deal as far as distribution goes. They don't even have them in the right size..so then you're talking about a PCM update.

I went with the PSS 275/35s up front, and now rubbing issues at all. This Saturday I'll test them on a road course, but they should plant that front end good.

ss were not available in 2008 during v development. ps2 was top tire then. 255/40/19 or 265/40/19 both match up well with the 295/35/19. 305/30/19 will work too but look short in stock wheel well. much better if you are lowered with springs. would be awesome if the 325/30/19 fit the sedan.......

one minor issue with the 295/35/19.. it has 9/32nds tread versus 10/32nds like most of the other PSS sizes.

Spoke with the Michelin guy at the v series performance academy last weekend and he said I should definitely upgrade to the super sports on my sedan as they are a better tire than the PS2s and obviously last much longer. When asked about the oem rear tire size he said they WILL be coming in a 'reasonable' amount of time. I couldn't get him to pinpoint it further.

PS2 is just OEM on a few other cars. I'm sure they could have pushed for the SS. I'm betting they got a better contract to put the PS2s on instead. It's math.

The stock front 9", and it's approved by Tire Rack also. I'll be at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend (if it isn't to cold) and Road America next weekend.

anyone has stock wheels with different tire size pictures? i.e. 295/35/19 vs 295/40/19 etc i am really picky about the GAP the tires and the body so this will help out greatly

295/35/19 pss is 27.1 versus stock 285/35/19 ps2 26.9 295/40/19 is too tall 27.4 and 305/30/19 at 26.3 is getting a little short for stock wheel well height, probably would look fine with a drop though.

Curious - oem fronts are 255/40/19; alternative PSS fronts are 265/40/19, so why do you think the PSS 295/35/19 would be a better match for the fronts Jim???

40% of 255mm = 102mm

35% of 285mm = 99.75mm
35% of 295mm = 103.25mm

Which is closer?
