My wife Deborah and I are both getting older nowadays; I am 49 that is old enough to know, I better play it safe on revealing her age. Deborah loves to drive a Corvette but now with a grandchild, we really need a car with 4 doors and we went shopping over the Labor Day weekend, but could not find a CTS-V Black Diamond edition in a sedan like she wanted at any of our Local dealers.

I will be going on what will most like be my last overseas deployment with the National Guard early next year, after which I am planning on retirement, so we made a decision to order her a car with the options she desired and the new car manager told us that it would be manufactured at the GM Lansing assembly plant around the first week of November plus or minus two weeks, depending on availability of the new Red Calipers.

Gonna be 63 in November. Before the V, my 1st Caddy was a triple black '70 Fleetwood Brougham and then a '76 Fleetwood Talisman (with the rare factory mechanical fuel injection option). Assorted Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, a '94 SHO and a pullied L67 Bonneville SE ('97) in the interim. Also had a '99 STS (wife's) that I just sold after picking up a pristine '07 SRX (AWD Northstar) last month.

Best regards,

38 and first Cadillac as well as first American nameplate. Been with Nissan, Infiniti, Mazda, VW, and BMW prior. Love the fact that there is such a large range of ages on the thread. It shows the great appeal of serious performance machines despite what pundits may say.

I'll be 69 on Monday and am pretty immature for my age when it comes to high performance cars. They are the "mechanical athletes" of the automotive world and have the best engines, transmissions, suspensions and brakes. I came from 6 Corvettes (1979-2001 models) and a 2005 V1.

I agree that it's great to see so many younger owners. Cadillac has to be thrilled that the owner demographics are changing, thanks to the V cars. Best move they ever made!

33 here, daily driver for the wife (age left out for obvious reasons) and I to compliment the Nissan Titan. We come from the "we never thought we'd own a Caddy until we saw the Caddy that is not like the other Caddy's."

Had a down payment on th GTR when it first came out and then all the maintenance horror stories started and it scared us away. Coming from a G35 and then a G37 (when the GTR didn't work out) we needed some more oomph and we got it. We'll never look back!

Reading through those older threads/polls (before I was an owner/on here) is priceless! I'm 40 btw, and have loved cars since I was 9. There is no way in hell the V's are "old man" cars - I would have drooled over the Coupe at 16. And the last Cadillac that was on my radar was a 76 Eldorado when I was 16 - the V series definitely brought me to Cadillac. The last American car I owned was a 2001 Corvette convertible - fast, but crappy seats/interior.

Quick side note - also considerations for me when I bought - one, I don't think you're going to be seeing engines like this for much longer, and two, car electronics age much less gracefully than the rest of the car, so I was keen on avoiding the first generation CUE system, because as cool as it looks now, in 3 years it's going to look like Donkey Kong.

I'm 45.Had fast cars on and off my whole life. For my 40th birthday bought myself a new 08 Vette. Only had 2 miles on it. My first "mid-life crisis" toy. Picked up my 2011 V new in April of last year with 14 miles on it. Guess I'm having a mid-life relapse about every 5 years :) Have a 14 year old and the best wife in the world who always says "You work hard for your money, have fun". While she drives a Honda Insight :)

Just picked up a 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette for 5K with only 60k miles on it. Perfect condition. Was totaled for "unrepairable electrical issues" turns out it was simply a bad ground. Gotta love it. My plan is to give it to my son once he can afford the insurance. I know giving a 16 year old a Corvette is probably not he brightest idea in the world but he has been driving on private roads since he was 10 and drives a stick better than me. Also VERY responsible. I guess I'm trying to make up for everything I didn't have since I was poor when young.

I guess I'm trying to make up for everything I didn't have since I was poor when young.I know the feeling, Mike. I remember the great high performance cars of the '60's. I had no money and was in college. I thought that I had missed the high performance pinnacle; little did I know that the best was in the future. We think that we are in the pinnacle now. Well, maybe we are for internal combustion engines. We may see the end of them years from now, but I and maybe you, won't care. It's all relative. The message is that we enjoy the present. Good luck to all you young guys and keep things in perspective.
