I had my battery replaced at the dealer last week in my 2005 STS. Since then, I keep receiving error messages that my "hood ajar" and "theft attempted." Is this something that needs to be reset by the dealer, or is there a quick fix that I can do myself?

Bring it back, since it started after they serviced it, its on them to fix it.

Recycle your hood , a couple of times,
Theft attempted will go away after awile
on it's own, just by driving and starting
and shutting OFF the engine.

I suppose it's possible they broke something, but there was a defective hood latch on some early cars. It could be coincidence that yours is acting up now. I suggest replacing it with the redesigned part, so that you know it's fixed and it won't act up at a bad time. $100 part and easy to DIY.

I took it to the dealer. They said it's the hood latch sensor and wanted $311 to replace. Do you happen to have a part number and possibly instructions on replacing?

Nice of them to want to charge you for the switch they broke.

That sure beats the $300+ that your dealer wanted!

Just an FYI,
but i chose the "free" option to fix my hood sensor.. I opened up the sensor, determined that if you cross the outer two wires, it tells the vehicle that the hood is closed permanently.. easy fix, and i really didn't need the car to know that the hood was open anyhow..
Probably not the 'recommended' solution, but hey..

Lol, and would allow you to remote start and have then hood open while doing so.
Or to open the hood while its remote started without having it kill the engine.

Trailprints, I like it. That one way to get around the Cadillac tax. Danny
