Has the motor mount issue with the Norhtstar, been corrected, in the 2006 to 2011 DTS and do we know of any headgasket failure in these year models. Could somebody also comment on why I hear crossover gasket failure on 2006 to 2011 model DTS's still. Thanks guys.

General consensus RIGHT NOW is that the latest model DTSs haven't experienced HG failure......

Thing is, they've bearely been on the market. Give 'em another 10 years.

For the motor mounts, I don't think the new DTSs have dogbones, so I'd say that's likely a resounding no.

I believe there is some sort of torque strut on the passenger side of the engine for newer FWD Northstars. It's very different looking than the ones in earlier Northstars, but I'd think they put it there for a reason.

Thanks I think:ill: was it just gasket or did the bolts come loose. Anything about crossover gaskets, thanks.

Haven't heard anything about crossover gaskets. Remember, the Northstar is an aluminum engine, so there's a chance that the HGs will go to begin with, not even thinking about headbolts.

That being said, the odds of that happening are LOW. REALLY LOW.

Yes, 2010 DTS that we have has a strut with some type of rubber mount on the top, passenger side of engine, connected above the idler pulley.

I believe in the later models GM installed longer bolts with better threads but head gasket failure can still happen according to my mechanic.

The Northstar has received longer head bolts in 2000 and coarser head bolts in mid-2004. The bolt pulling problem has been "fixed", but it does have head gaskets so it has chance to blow them. Just like any other engines with head gaskets.

In other words, don't worry about it. :D
