To those that have dipped: how's the durability been? Has anyone seen any difference in durability between spray/on-car vs. spray or dip/off-car (front coat vs. full wrap-around coat)?

Googled "plasti dip durability site:http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/2009-cadillac-cts-v-appearance-mods/" and came up empty...

I think it depends what you dip. For surfaces with a texture like the air inlets around the fog lights and the rear fascia it will be quite durable. For shiny surfaces, not so much. I have already had to re-shoot my one vent twice. Once because the edge peeled back during a hand wash, and the other when the car returned from the tint shop. Not sure what they did but it was peeling back again. I never got the window trim quite right. While it looked good from 6' away, you could see it was peeling at the edges. I removed it and had the window trim vinyl wrapped. The grille is what I worry most about. I can't imagine that is going to peel off as easily as the vents should it get damaged.

All in all I think Plastidip is a great product for the cost. I have some reservations about the durability. That said, re shooting stuff is fairly cheap. Just can be time intensive to mask properly. You also need to watch the over-spray. Plastidip peels off easily when the coating is thick enough. Thin coats or over-spray can be time consuming to remove. You can get it off, but it takes effort.

OK so I'm a picture posting whore...:D

Thanks, I should have been more specific. I'm interested in how grilles have turned out. I had mine painted back in '09 and it pitted like crazy. I've been considering (don't laugh) thinned out truck bed liner, so Plasti-Dip intrigues me...

My grilles look great and I have about 1000 miles. Can't tell you how long it will last but I have done 2 250 mile highway trips and no marks. I think the rubber repels a lot of small stuff.

No issues with mine at all, even though highway driven several thousand miles. And I'm in Florida with love bugs!

Mines been on since May. 4500 mile trip out west. Driving back and forth to work on the expressway. The only issue was a little came off from debris hitting the lower grill. Just sprayed on a couple of coats to cover. Very forgiving product. About 8500 miles since it was sprayed.
