View Full Version : need more parts

09-19-12, 01:42 PM

On the exploded view I am needing a quote on parts for the following

#142 part# **581223 (chain tensioner) Quantity 1
#145 part# **556030 (cahain tensioner) Quantity 2
#252 part# **557838 (belt tensioner) Quantity 1
This will be an order place mid next week

On a different order a couple of weeks down the road

#423 part# **555384 (oil pump) Quantity 1, and also the mounting bolts for the pump being they are torque to yield I want to change them.

These parts are for a 96 eldo Y motor going into a 98 deville delegance

Thank you for your time,

09-21-12, 11:27 AM

Sorry for the delay. What illustration are you getting this info from?

09-21-12, 04:47 PM
From gmpartsgiant.com

Sorry I thought you guys had the same references. You being a supporter of the site, I would rather you get the business

09-21-12, 04:49 PM
but what illustration(s) are you referencing?

you didn't post a parts illustration in your first post for me to know what parts you have selected

#143 means nothing without the illustration

09-22-12, 01:53 PM
The first 2 parts are on this page

illustration links off that page of near top under get info tab

Third part is on this page

P.S. Do you have an online exploded view of a 96 eldo y motor that I could use?

I'm sorry I made this difficult.

Thank you again for your time,

09-25-12, 07:57 AM

GM#12581223 quantity 1
GM#12556030 quantity 2
GM#12557838 quantity 1

while we are at it, add a water pump belt tensioner to the list also. I understand having to wait for you to order parts.

The oil pump will wait for a couple weeks in another order.

09-25-12, 09:40 AM
water pump belt tensioner
$136.22 - list price
$97.04 - your price
(i have these in stock)

I'm wondering why you are looking to get an oil pump... they are usually not a problem at all.

Low oil pressure can be caused by an improperly torqued crank bolt or a faulty pressure switch can cause the light to come on when it shouldn't.

I have worked up a price quote for you. The total is $274.56 including UPS Ground shipping.
If you would like to order just give us a call and mention the price quote number (PQ2481) and we won't have to re-lookup any of these parts.

10-08-12, 11:04 AM

I am ready for the oil pump price w/shipping.

P.S. Can you get the mounting bolts for the oil pump. Are these torque to yield bolts? I notice they are calling for an additional 35 degree turn for final pass.

Put them in the price if you can.

10-08-12, 11:59 AM
I would assume that it is torque to yield due to that additional 35deg final pass but I'm not sure really. The guys in the shop said that off the top of their head that most of the bolts for these cars' engines are torque to yield but the only ones that really matter are the head bolts, the connecting rod bolts, and the crank bolt ... it's your choice i guess

also the bolts are sold in 5-pack bags so you'll have to buy two extra bolts just to get the three you need

oil pump
$329.27 - list price
$234.61 - your price

$2.10 - list price each
$1.31 - your price each

shipping will be $15 (with or without the bolts)

i've save a price quote for you when you call in that will make everything go smooth
if i'm not available when you call in just mention the price quote number PQ2521

10-08-12, 01:56 PM
calling now, thank you sir

10-08-12, 05:23 PM
i see you talked to my co-worker Duane.

looks like everything is all set

thanks for your business,

01-12-13, 12:30 PM

From above illustrations I need price and shipping to 17404

#138 / 2 please
#140 / 2 please

Also for the same 96 eldo y motor
Water pump belt
thermostat gasket?

01-12-13, 01:24 PM
do you have the upgraded thermostat housing?

the original housing uses a smaller t/stat gasket

the upgraded housing began service after 2000 sometime (2002 year model maybe)
but it replaces/services all year model northstars

if you are doing a water pump it is suggested to upgrade the housing as well along with the new housing (teardrop) gasket and the thicker t/stat gasket

can you PM me your email address so I can email you a pdf of the price quote

01-12-13, 04:30 PM
This is what came on the motor, its what we have currently have

EDIT TO ADD: Also I need 4 tubes of 12378521 sealant or whatever currently being used to seal the half case and oil pan.

01-12-13, 09:52 PM
that's the original design

use permatex ultra grey for the sealant

the difference is subtle but the new design does not leak (the original tends to sometimes leak a bit)

01-13-13, 11:22 AM
Guess we are upgrading that then.
While we are at it, we need a price for all the hoses before we put this engine in.
Rad, heater, etc. We want to replace all hoses for the cooling system.
This will be going into a 98 Deville D'Elegance.

Thank you for your time,

01-14-13, 09:31 AM
i thought you said it was a 1996 Eldo with a Y-motor .... are you working on two cars here or am i just confused?

can you make your full list of parts and for what vehicle so i can make sure we get everything you want on your price quote?

01-14-13, 10:10 AM
This is a 96 Eldo Vin Y motor from a boneyard that I am rebuilding to put into a 98 Deville D'Elegance. Hope that helps sorry about about the confusion. I didn't know if there was any differences from motor to motor that is why I was asking for that year and model. But body wise I imagined theater hoses would be different on the Deville vs Eldo
#138 / 2 please
#140 / 2 please

Thermostat w/upgraded housing
Water pump belt
thermostat gasket?
all hoses for cooling system.

01-14-13, 11:11 AM
gotcha ...

i'll be emailing you a price quote before lunch (if i don't get too busy)

01-24-13, 04:13 PM
Parts received, thank you.

I will be in touch for the hoses at a later date.

01-24-13, 05:03 PM
thanks for the order and the update

02-07-13, 10:39 AM

Do you still have PQ2746 if so we need all of the hoses from that. You e-mailed me a copy on 1/14/2013. Also add a thermostat to that. We are ready for the next order

P.S. You have a PM

Sorry forgot to send the pm, it's there now

02-07-13, 12:07 PM
It's no longer in the system... can you email it back to me? (along with your other additional requests to be added)

i'll make up a new PQ and send it back to you

02-07-13, 02:45 PM

02-07-13, 03:16 PM
no problem

02-07-13, 07:08 PM
Okay I shot the quote back at you.
Need all the hoses off that quote and add a thermostat to that order.

P.S. I found that part, sorry to bother you with my negligence.
I thought it would have been in a bigger package than it was. LOL

02-07-13, 07:24 PM
I was hoping you'd find it. Those types of mishaps do happen. (On my side too even)

I'll get on it for you in the morning and reply.

cool... looks like you called when i was at lunch and spoke w/ the manager

all taken care of

02-11-13, 10:25 AM

96 Eldo Y motor

Serpentine Belt
8 flex plate bolts
4 torque converter bolts
and rear main seal

I imagine it the second design because it has hard inner and outer casing. Didn't the first design have a soft inner lip?
Also the timing cover numbers matched the 98 deville block, didn't know if that meant anything. Thought I remember reading something about that somewhere.

02-11-13, 10:51 AM
i think you're right about that first design ...

the other way to tell is the width ... 9mm or 12mm (thicker is 2nd design)

the parts catalog also says that '96 models built before March 1996 will take the first design

$52.00 - list price
$32.50 - your price

flex plate bolts
$1.94 - list price each
$1.21 - your price each

torque converter bolts
$5.06 - list price each
$3.16 - your price each

rear main seal (2nd design)
$51.62 - list price
$36.78 - your price

i've got them all in stock except the flex plate bolts

02-11-13, 11:03 AM
Just went out and measured quick and got 11.77 so I guess we will call that 12mm

#19172679------ 1
#12561075------ 8
#11588468------ 4
#12568025------ 1

Lets do it

02-11-13, 11:43 AM

Saved you a price quote: PQ2836

give us a call when you get a chance.

02-11-13, 12:33 PM

Missed you again, I guess when you see my number you run out of the building, it's that PIA again, LOL

Hey Chris can you throw a spark plug wire set on that quote?

02-13-13, 10:39 AM

$196.93 - list
$123.08 - yours

PQ updated

the wires are in stock but i'd have to order the mount
(will only take a day or two to get from GM)

02-13-13, 05:17 PM
Hoses arrived,
Thank you

Also received bolts, belt, and seal.
I was puzzled because it came in a Amazon box. LOL

Thank you

02-17-13, 03:43 PM
Hey Chris,

Do you a part number and price for these brackets that hold the coolant piping between the engine and firewall.

Also part #513 from this image

I will probably have to add more as I go this week.

02-17-13, 09:27 PM
is that the ECT sensor?

02-17-13, 10:09 PM
It goes into the water jacket of the right head on the rear just above bellhousing. I'm guessing coolant temp. sensor.
2 prong connector

ECT = Engine coolant temp.

the answer is yes to your ?

02-18-13, 12:27 PM
yeah, now that I'm at work I can confirm that is the ECT

$32.50 - list price
$20.31 - your price

I have one in stock

the brackets are shown in the catalog but don't have a parts listing
i called GM and they're a bit stumped by it
they're going to call me back in a while after looking into it a bit more

ok, so GM got back to me and found the clips/brackets

$22.67 - list price each
$18.89 - your price each

they have been discontinued but VPI still has them
I can get them for you or you can order them directly from VPI ( http://vpartsinc.com ) but they'll charge the list price

either way is fine with me
just know that these parts from VPI are non-returnable (all sales final)

02-23-13, 01:01 PM
Chris I am wanting to replace the steel water pipes that go into those clamps in the pic above in earlier post, but I cannot find them in any pics. Do you have a price and availability on those pipes?

02-23-13, 01:57 PM

$60.62 - list price
$43.20 - your price

$69.13 - list price
$49.26 - your price

gotta order them from GM

02-23-13, 02:23 PM
Ok lets do it. One is bad might as well replace both.

P.S. Clamps and ECT problem has been taken care of

Got a PQ# for me?

02-23-13, 07:34 PM
No PQ yet ... I can make one on Monday if you want.

02-23-13, 07:38 PM
Monday sounds good. I am heading to Tn. Monday morning but my email will come through my cell so as soon as I get it I will call and place order.
Any idea how long it will take to get from gm?

02-23-13, 07:41 PM
Not sure. Might only be a day if its in the Charlotte warehouse. There's a good chance that they have it. (I've got one in stock)

sorry dave... nice talking to you earlier

03-02-13, 09:49 AM
Nice talking with you also Chris. Back from Tn Wednesday night and my pipes came Thursday.
Never thought a parts thread would go four pages.

Thanks you

03-02-13, 10:23 AM
well you are doing quite the thorough re-build

it's kind of like taking a 'go big or go home' attitude to the repair

exciting to watch from afar
