Greetings

I just got a 03 STS but it has the same Denso system the SRX has. I'm missing the DVD. Anybody know where to get one CHEAP? The dealer wants 297. I'm still trying to get a hold of the original owner but i'm trying to find a backup plan.

Thanks

You can always check eBay; there might be some old discs since a new version supposedly just came out recently. Otherwise, you can order the latest disc from a discount parts supplier online like GM Parts Online (http://www.gmpartsonline.com). The discount is usually very good. If I recall, the part number and price was just mentioned in a recent thread on the navigation system.

Now I'm out of it. I looked on E-Bay and found a few entries. I also did some searches and found a few different part numbers.

On E-Bay I found a

United States and Canada Map Disc (DVD) Version 3.0, US/CA 03R4, Part Number #: 10390370

But I also found a PN on this site for V3.0:

25767790 Electrical - Navigation system components - Compact disc
Compact disc 2004

What is the right PN? The one on ebay says Delphi System but I believe the Cadillacs us a Denso system right?

:bonkers:

You should look at this thread (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26882) about the navigation discs. According to it, PN 25767790 is the old V3.0 DVD, and the new V4.0 DVD is PN 10389450. The SRX uses the Denso system. Some other Cadillacs use other systems.

Thanks for all your help. I read somewhere that the DVD actually contains the firmware for the system. I also read that the new 05 models the 1791 hack for the DVD does not work. Will this stop working if i get the V3 or V4 disk?

Thanks

In reading the posts, the 1791 seems to work on some 05's.

I've also read you can get the new NAV DVD for $197 through GMDIRECT

Would you share the address/phone of this place, GMDIRECT? I googled it but got nowhere.
Thanks,

I'd need it sent via snail mail.

I bet in three months version 5 will be out. I'd wait.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing; would hate plunking down all that $ for the 4.0 version only to have 5.0 come out a day later.

I have a question into Denso asking when the next version is coming out. I'll post here if I get a straight answer. Of course the dealership was of not assistance with any questions.

I have a 2002 DTS with a navigation system. It came with a version 1.10 DVD. I bought
a Version 3.0 DVD on e-bay which works great. Does anyone know of a later version DVD and part # that would, also, work on my DTS?

I don't know the ebay item# you bought to know the details, but I think that the 3.0 matches the SRX versions with the one shipping on 2004's. A 4.0 is currently available and a 5.0 is pending.

It looks like the part number 15798916 mentioned above is available now on GM parts direct. There is no description of the part except that it is a disc.

I am the "above poster" and received the parts number from Denso after convincing them :mad2: that multiple tries for information of any kind from Cadi had been fruitless. Denso was not willing to cough up the info at first.

I ordered the part last night for a total price of $198.08.

I saw this auction on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7999763853&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

It is version 6. Everybody has been talking about versions 3, 4 and 5.

Don't know what it fits, but NOT SRX's. (Notice 4Q'02)

miked

Yeah, note that the NAV system for the SRX is common only to the SRX and the XLR . . . . the NAV systems for CTS, STS, Escalade, etc., won't work.

Can you tell me what the 1791 hack is? I have an 04 SRX with factory nav

sgilbert
11-26-05, 11:10 PM
Only because you are a new member, but do a search next time!

LAST TIME: Eject your NAV DVD; While in park, hold the musical note for 3 or more seconds until the code screen comes up; enter 1791 & enter; load a movie DVD. You're good to go, for as long as your car is running, to watch a movie AND drive.

I do NOT recommend this and take NO responsibility when you total your SRX. Happy watching! :)

miked

Note that the 1791 only works with the earlier SRX's, not the later ones.

Does that same code work for the nav disc itself? Will it let you program in a destination without stopping?

I have a 2003 Deville DTS with Nav. I just got the updated DVD part number 15798916. It works but is useless because when you try to more the scale of the map to 4 miles, or less so you can actually see the road names you are driving on, it shows you the roads for a few seconds then the message:
There is no detailed map available, The Map scale is being changed.

It then goes to the 16 mile scale and won't allow you to go to a smaller scale. I did set the area to US4 , which cover Minnesota. I live in the Minneapolis are and the booklet indicates that details are included. It has points of interest for my area.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else gotten the update and tried it yet? Does anyone know how to contact Denso?

Maybe the DTS forum might have more info on the DTS NAV than the SRX forum? Just a thought.

I believe only the XLR shares the same system as our SRX.

Both my local Cadillac dealer and the online Cadillac dealer told me the NAV DVD 15798916 is the current version for the 2003 Deville DTS with Nav. Has anyone here used this version and had any problems with it besides me? Has anyone here used this version at all?

miked

Again, I really do think that these quesitons, Runch Machine, are better posted on the *DTS forum*, not the *SRX forum*. Sounds really strange, I know, but give it a try.

After trying two copies of version 5 of the Nav DVD I called Cadillac and talked to tech support. They didn't know why it wasn't working and told me to take the car to the dealer. The dealer updated the software in the car's computer. Now the new NAV DVD works great.

Glad it works.

Interresting that you have a DTS, and all of your 3 total posts have been here; on the SRX forum. I guess we're friendlier! (or smarter?)

What type of DVD do I need to write this DVD to? I bought V. 5 and copied it to my hard drive and want to make a copy. I have DVDs on hand but they're only 4.7G, not big enough to hold this mapping DVD. Staples didn't have anything bigger so I had a techie copy it to a "double layered" DVD which didn't work either. Help. :helpless:
Thanks, Chere
