: Replacing Engine in 2005 STS V6

Hey Guys (and Girls)

I have just a quick question for someone that could answer it. I recently ran into some engine troubles with my cadillac sts 2005 v6 and I love it so much that I am willing to replace the engine. My question is, will the 2007 sts v6 engine work and fit in my car just the same? I ask because I found a better deal on a 07 than a 05.

Thanks for you time,

Pretty sure it's the same engine until 2008, thats when GM added DI...someone else can verify.

Thanks, I had actually read that some where else but I was hoping someone could verify as well lol. I was wondering if maybe someone else had done it or heard of someone doing it. Great!

I replaced an engine in a 2002 Boneville a few years back. I replaced it with a Jasper re-manufactured engine. It wasn't cheap, but it was't cost prohibitive considering I planned on keeping it for a long period of time. I still own it. When I was doing my research, I found a video on their website showing their re-manufacturing process.

2008 and newer is a different engine

i would *think* it would work, you might need to get the ECU from the 2007 model however as well.

There's a guy on the 1st Gen CTS forum who swapped theirs out with a Saturn Vue engine, IIRC.
