Gizmo....good to see that you're bringing out the xlr-v, you mentioned you wanted run it in October when I met you at the March event. We're working on a Cadillac area. I will have a motorhome and there may be a couple more. All V's should look for each other and set up together.

Will do! Looks like, as of this weekend, we'll have 3 XLRs (only 2 racing) and an RV and rental car.

So who's getting there earliest? I don't plan to arrive until after lunch on Friday. Let me know and I can pass it on to the rest of my team.

Jessica with the TX Mile has given us permission to hold space and there's activity around this on another forum. Try to look out for others and flag them down, sounds like you may be the first one there. We plan to arrive with our motorhome around 6pm Thurs.

Dan, I do not know if you remember me? I ran 180.0 in my black 09 V sedam March 2011. I have since sold my V to my brother in Odessa. I will be there in a new V couppe I purchased a few weeks ago but will not race it yet as I haven't had time to do the mods. I will holler for you to do great. I saw somewhere where you ran 179 something. Is that your top speed so far? I hope to participate in March, and can hardly wait. DonS.

Thanks Don of course I remember you. The fastest I have run was 182 mph. I have added more horse power and gone to a taller tire. I was having to shift right before the trap into 6th gear, this was causing me to loose 2-3 mph. I'm hoping to beat Hennessey's 185.6 mph this time out.
At last count there are 13 V entered. We are going to try to corral all the cars. I will be in the RV flying the gold caddy flag along with a Don,t tread on me flag. Look forward to talking to you.

PS, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone to 190+

I'm still downloading picks and videos. Car goes to Steigemeier on Thursday. No blower meant no rapid acceleration on the way home, but cruising at 85 was fine once I got there. With the oil leak my engine compartment it a mess. Oil pressure never went over 48PSI so it wasn't leaking too much - just enough to coat everything with a thin film.

The trip down was pretty inconsequential. I had forgotten the speed limit in Texas was higher than most. Even on the State highways there were parts posted at 75MPH. I spent the first night of the journey with cousins in Katy, TX. Then took US59 down into Beeville.

We had anticipated approximately 20 Cadillacs, but some teams wanted to park elsewhere. The airport paddock ended up with 4 different Cadillac corrals. Personally, I think it was a good thing because it provided several different enviroments to experience. The Caddy Shack was laid back and playful. TX Conda's pit crew was very serious and all business (he was the first Caddy to exceed 192MPH). Blinky's pit area was Party Central with all the young adults partying all nite. By the end of the day on Friday, HunterKiller had the "Caddy Shack" (RV) all set up and pitted all our cars next to it.

My biggest contribution was the Cadillac Racing banners - Everyone at the track was impressed. The local Caddy Dealer wanted to buy them, then asked where I got them.

Everybody was done for the day and prepped to get up at 5AM. We would get in line around 6AM; the grid opened promptly at 630AM; we staged our cars in the grid then walked back to our pits for breakfast. The first car on the track would be at 8AM so we had a couple hours to kill before it was our turn.

Friday was all about licensing and shakedowns. I ran my licensing run at 141.9, Steve's was at 151, I think. Saturday it was time to get serious, BUT.....
Steve and Jack were having a good time.

The aftermath of my last run of the weekend. Notice I set the supercharger pulley on top of the supercharger. The Gates belt lived up to its reputation - it never broke. I had to cut it to get it from behind the supercharger pulley. Then the pulley came off. Unfortunately, it WAS a 7-rib belt - by the time I got it back to the pits all the ribs had melted off and were embedded in the power steering and tensioner pulleys.

We had a large contingent of Cadillacs present:

Mark (the guy who rented the Caddy Shack and my host for the weekend) had over 700HP:

http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/2012/Texas%20Mile/October%202012%20Texas%20Mile/txConda.jpg

The other 192MPH CTS-V was a flat black (vinyl wrap) coupe. I wish I'd have gotten some pics up close. Satin696 had one of the most impressive cars at the show.
http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad271/GizmoQ/2012/Texas%20Mile/October%202012%20Texas%20Mile/FlatBlackvynilwrappedCTS-VCoupeontrack.jpg

The only CTS-V Wagon racing got one run cause he arrived late on Saturday and had to wait for the noon drivers meeting. His first run was a licensing run where he said he got to over 160, but backed it down to 150 at the mile. There was not enough time for him to make a second run on his one day entry so he's coming back in the Spring for all three days.

Lots of Vettes showed up for Sunday. Lots of Mustangs all weekend. Of course the fastest bikes were the Hayabusas. The worlds fastest woman was on one. Jennifer Robertson poses with the board. 243.6 mph makes her the fastest woman in the world through the standing mile on a bike.

Did I mention, the worlds fastest street legal XLR-V in the standing mile was Elwood. (let's see if D3 shows up next time :) Sorry couldn't resist it. Got the Race Director to sign off my log book to document the record. Paperwork will be forwarded to ECTA and SCTA for certification and the world records updated.

Hmmm, when is the next one? We got a couple of prepared XLR-V widebodies that might want to go play.

Thanks,

Sometime in March 2013. They usually announce dates in January.

I've tried to contact you guys twice about sponsoring my car in LSR, but never heard back. Now that it's the off season, I may try again. Although all I need now is headers, I guess I could force myself to carry the D3 colors.

Hey if you do end up heading out here in March will you be shipping the cars out?

Hmm we will have to see if we can fit that into our 2013 racing schedule. We will keep an eye out for an announcement on this.

As for your car. Shoot us an email or better yet give us a call. We can see what we can do for you on the headers. Remember the d3 colors will give you a few more ponies!

Hello,

Yes we would transport the vehicles if we come out. Since we don't have any drag strips maybe we can setup our drag car to come play.

Cool, so if I buy a hood from Greg you can just toss it on the truck with the cars ;)
