: Round 2 - Custom Matte Blue Plasti-Dip CTS-V Sedan

Hey All!

So I finally got around to re-dipping my CTS-V. This is a custom mix of blue. I wanted darker than fonzies, and I think I achieved my goal. This is 3 gallons of blue mixed with 1 gallon of black. The results of a full spray with the gun turned up turned out AWESOME. Not a spec of texture. I've got to wrap up some finishing touches tomorrow, but here are some preview pics for the night...

Much better than the red!

How did you remove the side vents? My Plasti Dip is not sticking properly on one vent. I want to remove it and shoot it.

updated with daylight pics. Seems the forums are quite on this one compared to the red...

Thanks all!

I didn't see the daylight pictures last night. While it is much improved over the red, looking at your first day light picture, it appears the dip is a bit uneven. Maybe it's just the angle. That was my one issue with Plasti Dip. Large panels are VERY difficult to get even. I ripped it off the trim around my windows and had those wrapped with vinyl as the unevenness drove me crazy.

Yes, I like this much better than the red. I'm most curious as to how this application holds up in day-to-day driving, washing the car, etc.

I'm not sure man. It looks pretty even in person, if you look down the side of the car when you're sitting or laying on the ground, looking up, you can see a little bit of uneven-ness, but i think that just comes with plasti-dip. It's nothing that would steer me away from the product, as 97% of the time it looks as smooth as can be.

Looks Good man. I think the black and blue looks good but with they way you change colors, are there any plans to change the black? maybe a grey or silver instead of Chrome?

Looks much better than the red. Not sure I like it as much as the Audi, but I do like it...

I think it looks great. As with the Red matte finish I respect someone "dipping out the box."

No video ? I liked the video you made on the bacon color try. Was well done with the music and sped up footage ... The blue is cool,.. Now the original paint is still ok ? No prep like scuffing to make stick ?

No, no video this time :( I forgot the camera and wasn't turning around to get it. The original paint was perfectly fine, no scuffing or anything. NO prep at all, just wash the car, make sure it's completely dry, and spray!

Thanks

Looks really good mcfunk! I liked the red because it was different but this is definitely 100Xs better. Not so "in your face" looking, and definitely a mean color.

Looks great man, I admire your ability to think outside the box!

Thanks!
