I am looking for a warranty for a 2005 Cadillac XLR, and I can not find one that covers the convertible hard top. Does the GMPP warranty cover that, and what would be the cost? The car currently has 36,000 miles, and is out of factory warranty but the aftermarket warranty just expired.

Got a platinum extended warranty from USAA. Cost $1200 for 12K or 12 months with $0 deductible and covers EVERYTHING except wearables (pads, wiper, etc) Paid for it after 6 months shifter went bad and shifter cable $2k.

GMPP warranties cannot be extended to vehicles that are out of the original factory warranty. You have to negotiate one while you're still covered. (This covers GM, since they're trying to make money, not lose it.)

Make sure you check the fine print on any potential warranty. Some cover everything except folding hard tops. The top is the most trouble-prone system on the 2004-2005 model years.
