I just purchased a used 2009 Cadillac CTS base model. It has 17 inch stock wheels on it and it came with the compressor/stop leak substance instead of a spare tire.
The dealer wants 475 for a spare tire set up. Does anyone know if a Chevrolet or another manufacturer's spare tire will work with the Cadillac? Any help would be appreciated b/c I'm about to take a road trip and no spare tire leaves me feeling uneasy.
Shop a few dealers. 475 sounds like about 100 more than I was quoted for a new kit. Also check the classifieds on this board. I bought a kit on here earlier this year and have seen 1 or 2 come up for sale since.
I have a brand new compact spare (from my G8) if you are interested. I will have to get the size and post it. Will a full size spare fit in the CTS? One of the things I miss about the G8. You could put a full size 18" rim/tire in the trunk.
I can say for sure that the 18" stock wheels and tires do NOT fit in the spare tire well. I had to use my spare due to a large screw that decided to impale my LF tire recently. The flat tire and wheel would not fit in the well in the trunk.
Check the thread listed below. My '09 came without the spare and I ordered one from Lindsey Cadillac for a very good price (about $250 shipped). The price has gone up over the years to $315 (msrp is $446).
send me a PM, I have a brand new tire and tools from my 2010. I took them to use in my 2012 coupe but a spare will not fit in the coupe. vette22@tampabay.rr.com
