Hey guys I've doing some thinking, has anyone installed a sts Turbo on the northstar? I know of you would say "get the V" but I wanted to do something a little different. I'm pretty sure the northstar can at least handle 7 or 8psi of boost, I believe a twin turbo awd northstar would be the ultimate sleeper. My only question is will the transmission and transfer case handle 350-400whp?

Hope you have very deep pockets...this would cost thousands and would be completely custom, $10k+ easy...

QuickRev built a single turbo '99. 650rwhp. Mark was about $15k into it before it was done and it was RWD.

You don't want to twin turbo anything. More often than not, you can get a much more consistent power line, pull more torque, etc.

That said, if you got the cash, go for it.

For what it's worth ....... Lincoln has a twin turbo on their MKS. "It ain't a V, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

0-60 in 7.5 seconds?? Is it just me or is that a little slow for a TT? The 3.6L STS allegedly does 6.4 seconds.

It's probably a 4 cylinder with little boost, a lincoln is no eclipse gsx or talon tsi...I'm sure it isn't tuned to go fast, just be efficient.

U might want to post a link to that system, most people here are not familiar with it.

My wife's stock V8 STS is a nicer car and faster.

Engine should be fine but like you said transmission and differential might hate you but i say go for it, i wanna see more Cadillac owners out of the box. If i had the time and acess to lifts i would do it

If I had that kind of money my STS would be a V, motor would be built to ridiculous stage and I would laugh at a turbo'd STS4 :)

I believe an sts4 pushing 350whp with awd would be deadly, expescially racing from a dig.

I doubt it would be a whole lot faster than a stock, 320HP, RWD STS.

That's over 400 at the crank

Would it be cool to see/have? I think so. Is anyone out there going to spend the money to actually do it? Not likely.
Basically you are looking for an AWD V. (not something that is made, and the CTS-V guys have lengthy arguments about)

When i get my Cadillac paid off i will consider putting turbos on it. I have to say that my sts4 is quick for a car of it's size, just last Saturday I went down to where all cool kids gather up to race their cars and i lined up against a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2010 Chevy silverado with bolt on's and i destroyed both of them

I left the jetta by 4 bus lengths and I left the silverado by 3 car lengths.

Must have been a non turbo Jetta.

D3 did put a twin turbo on an sts-v. Seen the car in person and that thing is really good looking. I made my sts run 8.28 1/8mile with less then 2000 dollars spent and that is pretty quick for the sts.

The cats are built into the headers. Even if you don't live where there's emission testing, you may be facing many ECM issues. This car only runs right when its computer is right.

I think the trans & 3 differentials will be the least of your concerns. An AWD already weighs 300 pounds more than a RWD and clocks close to 7 seconds to 60MPH. A RWD is a second faster and has less mechanical resistence, too.

But it's your car. Have fun!

Somebody said their sts ran 13.6 1/4 mile thats not bad bone stock. But a tune with some exhaust work intake and some good ole race gas mix should get low 13 or maybe into 12s with perfect launch and perfect weather. I think they should've direct injected northstars i understand ls gdn iv is cheaper but gen v get direct injection so why kill dohc
