This past December the heated seat in my wife's 09 CTS stopped working. Dealer replaced the seat heater under warranty.
The other day it started to act up. The indicator would light up for few seconds and go out. Today it's working again and the seat is warm. Is it possible that the heating element is bad again. It's only been since December that it was repaired. One other note, the seats in the CTS don't heat up as warm the ones in my STS. The STS seats get hot. Anybody notice this too?
Cadjiek, fwiw, in freezing weather my seats heat quickly, even on lowest setting; need to be turned off completely within 4 to 5 minutes to avoid overheating.
Hi Cadjiek! I hope you get the heated seat opinions from the forum members that you're seeking, and I'm always an email away (at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com) if you'd like me to look into this matter further for you.
Took the car in for the heated seat. Wouldn't you know it that it started to work on the way to the dealer. They checked anyway and replaced the seat heater again. It worked fine on the way home. Today it is doing the same thing. The indicator light stays on for a few seconds and shuts off. Called the service dept and was told to bring it back in. Shouldn't they have checked the switch or any modules before replacing the element again? The write up sheet states that when the element gets warm it turns off. Any ideas??

As of today the heated seat function started to work today. Anybody know what is going on?? Apparantley the the dealer doesn't know. It will work for a day then stop working. The heat seater has been replaced twice since December. Any body?? Switch, module?? Where are the experts on this?
I can hear Joe Biden laughing at that one!! Wife just called and said the heated seat stopped working again. Apparaently they're mad at each other again. This will be the fourth time I have taken it in for this problem and I'm getting madder than the seat!!
Just noticed that my seat warmer on driver side only stays on for a minute before automatically shutting off. Haven't tried passenger side but definitely seems like something I would want to get checked as I am still under warranty.
This heated seat issue is strange. There are times when it works all day and then the next day it will shut off after about 10 seconds. The dealer is stumped at this point. At least it's on record as not being fixed.
Took it in again the week before Christmas. Tte dealer replaced the seat back element The heated seat worked for a day and then quit. Then the next day it worked sporadically. I called the dealer and they couldn't beleive it. I told them to make sure they note this on the file because the warranty expired in November. So far three seat elements, one module and now a seat back element. Sounds like the member with the radio that won't shut off. You get tired of going back to the dealer with no results and when you tell them that you still have a problem they just say when do you want to bring it back in. Like that's all we love to do.
I had this same problem requiring multiple trips as well on my 2010 CTS.. In the end they ended up replacing the entire base & frame of the drivers seat incl. heating element. They said there was a short in the seat. Issue has not returned. It's been about 6-8 months so far.
