Just purchased a 2005 STS V6 RWD with 80,000 miles. I just put some new tires on it and had the alignment set back. The next thing that my mechanic said to do is a fuel system cleaning, he said that the engine had a good amount of carbon build up? The engine is starting to get real sluggish and harder to accelerate. The mechanic quoted me at $130 for the service, I was looking to do it myself with SeaFoam. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Get the cleaning done, and then be sure to use Top Tier gas. It'll be a noticeable difference.

A fuel system service for $130, sure. A top end cleaning to remove said carbon for $130, doubtful, a steal if true, either way, do it.

I took it in to get the system cleaned and they hooked it up to the diagnostic and concluded that the catalytic converter was bank, Bank 2. I then shopped around to find out what my best option was and the dealer told me that it was out of warranty by 115 miles being that the warranty goes until 8000miles. I went in and tried to talk to The guy and he wouldn't budge, the other dealership was the same way. I have read on other forum posts that this is not the STS's first problem with the Cat Converter. What do y'all suggest is my next step?

I believe there is a special warranty on the 2005 CATs. Anyone verify this?

The emissions warranty quoted at the Cadillac dealership was 8yr/80000miles. Them if it is replaced the part has a 12 month 12000 mile warranty

See post 5; I can't vouch for the validity (but it has been discussed before).
