So this weekend I started my custom projector foglights. Theyre almost done. I like how they look so far.

- clear lenses
- CCFL halo 7000k
- projector
- xenon 6000k 35w hid

Pictures to come soon.

Well this thread is kinda a dud anyway.

But I managed to complete all the wiring. Now I have dual halo headlights. And halo fog lights running in my car. 7000k halo rings. 6000k hids. White led signal lights. And yeah that's that. I'm trying to upload pics but for some reason it isn't letting me. I will ASAP.

That's because you're limited to X images uploaded to this forum's servers. You should be using Photobucket or something comparable anyway (translation: you're doing it wrong). :P

Ahhhhhhh I knew I was doing something wrong haha

And I love how the headlights turned out. Only thing I'm unimpressed with is the company I bought them from advertised "7000k CCFL halos" an when I compare them to my foglights (also 7000k halos) you can clearly tell that the headlights aren't. I'm still very happy with how it all looks. But If anyone plans on going this route id just make sure that either the foglights or halos are forsure CCFL halos.

FWIW, when you try to post a picture here, click the "From URL" tab, uncheck the "Retrieve" checkbox, and paste the URL. Or you can add the IMG tags. Like so:

Clarification: I'm interested in seeing how the black assembly looks on the car more than the lights themselves.

Interesting. It looks like they maintained the grey surround that everyone hates so much. Did you get a good eyeball on the high beams? It looks like you could throw an extra projector in there and run quad headlamps (six projectors total, if you count the fogs).

stepchild21
08-04-12, 10:03 PM
Yeah there's more then enough room to do that forsure. Just cut out a hole for the projector and silicone it in. overall wouldn't be too hard I'd think

What did you use from the front of these fog lights? It looks killer, what I'm wondering is I want mine tinted since its a black car and I'm wondering if VHT will work on just a piece of acrylic. Did you just pop yours into the oven to remove the factory front glass?

I used fairly thick plexiglass actually. Then used a heat gun and clamps and silicone and slowly bent it and let it sit for 24 hours. So far so good.

I couldn't find any other suitable materials at the time, so I'm hoping they don't crack or anything.

To remove the factory I put them in the oven for about 4-5 mins and slowly pried off the oem lense, and continued through that procedure till they were off.

I absolutely love how they look. To me personally makes the front end look a little more modern, and the projector fits perfectly into the fog light housing, still keeping the signal light and daytime running light perfectly functional.

Haha I'm glad I can help you out !!!

I bought my projectors off eBay for 70$ with the CCFL 7000k halos. And just bought a 35 w 6000k hid kit and installed those.

Working on my own right now. Bought the foglamp cores off a wrecked CTS on eBay for $50 apiece. Need to do a water resistance test, and I'll probably have pictures up this weekend, along with the Forgestar F14s. Bought the thickest Lexan I could find at Home Depot...it's over 1/4" thick!

Do you guys bend the replacement lexan or do you just leave it flat? I want to attempt this mod but if bending the clear plexi to fit is in the project forget about it. Also do you just use silicone or somthing of that sort to hold the lexan on. Thanks

You use a silicon based epoxy and clamp it down all the way around. That creates the bend--it can't happen any other way. Do a couple of Google searches and you'll find a ton of build threads.

You have to bake the housing to remove the original lens. Read up on it. The build threads are very clear.

I clamped mine and let it sit for 24hrs. Acouple weeks in and I have no moisture in my lense whatsoever. And we've had Tons of rain hail foggy mornings. Just take your time with it and don't rush

I clamped them for 6 hours. No problems.

I need to put a 3M clear shield on them to prevent rocks and other projectiles from ruining them. Lexan isn't as hard as I'd like it to be.

I know you have to bake the housing to get the old lens of but i though the clear lexan had to be heated to make the bend. I cant seem to find any build thread. Maybe one of you could point me in the right direction. I did a google search with CF as my source and came up with nothing..

any shots with the car facing a wall, just fogs on, it will show the light cut off

They are brighter then just the regular fogs. The light is directed right where I want It to go.

Main reason for doing this mod was to modernize the lights. All newer vehicles have projector fog lights and I wanted them too!!!

And my car is in the shop getting a new transmission installed, and ls7 clutch.

Possibly fuzzy can upload pics of his against a wall ??? I know he built the same set as what I have here with a set of 4300k hids. Otherwise I'll upload a pic as soon as possible for you.

That's a good question. I noticed how easily Lexan could be scratched when I made my first set of lenses. So far, mine are holding up fine, but I've got a spare set of Lexan lenses in reserve in case this winter does a number on the fogs.

Tried that. Looks horrible. In what way does it look horrible? In my experience. Its a sacrificial layer... Ive been using a 3M film, iirc. A new layer is applied when the film starts to look worn, about once a year or so. After 4 years incl. 4 winters, the lexan underneath is near perfect with no fade or chips... My CTS is winter driven' in a climate where sand and salt is used 6 months of the year.

I'm sorry for bumping an old post but I really want to do a project like this for my CTS and I was wondering if the few people who have done this could help me out. I really like the halo fog lights, and I understand how to bake the lights to replace the plastic, but how about what halos to buy? Do the 4" rings fit in nicely where the old fogs were? Could you recommend a pair that are on the market via Ebay? Thanks
