I took the car in to the dealer today for the first time for some warranty work. It has a handful of small items that need to be addressed.
1. The indicator light on the mirror control selector switch (whichever one is selected) started staying on forever, even with the car off and locked.
2. Squeaky drivers seat. (of course it wouldn't do it for the dealer but was clearly squeaking on the drive to the dealer)
3. Wind noise at the top of the drivers door above 50 or 60 mph with a cross wind.
4. The seat back of the passenger front seat rattles and shakes front to back when no one is in it on anything but dead smooth road.
Hopefully, they will be able to correct some or all of the issues. My B to B warranty runs out 8/30/12. The seat squeaks wouldn't happen in the service drive. The only difference was that I didn't put the seat belt on when trying to reproduce the noise. Makes me wonder if the squeak is actually from the belt? The sound does seem to come from the area of the buckle sometimes.
Exactly the same here. My dealer replaced the window seal, but noise in strong crosswind remains. Bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired and GMPP does not cover, so I’ve learned to live with it. Let us know if your dealer finds a fix.
Good luck, 00 ss! As always, I'm here to step in and follow-up with your dealer if you have any post-visit concerns. Email me anytime at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com.
I don't mean to bust your chops, Katie, but is sounds ominous when a Cadillac Customer Service rep wishes an owner "Good Luck" when they are going in for service. I know you mean well, LOL!!!
Dealer called and said the car is done. They said the mirror selector light is supposed to stay on at all times. Not sure I buy that. Why would the light stay on when the car is off? I might buy that it's always on while the car is running, but not off and locked up. Katie, can you shed some "light" on this subject?
The other items were adressed. They lubed the drivers seat tracks, "secured" the passenger seat back and "adjusted" the door seal. I'm guessing "adjust" means shimmed. I can't image how else it could be modified. "Secured" to me means the seat back was loose, so if that's the case, maybe that issue was resolved. Hopefully the others were as well, but I'll see after I pick it up later.

I would still be happy to check my internal resources for you if you wish, although it may take up to two business days for me to track down an answer! Would you mind sending me a DM with your full name and the last eight of your VIN? (Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but it really helps speed along my research!)

Got the car back and the button for the mirror selector now works. I think they may have reloaded the software or something because many of my preferences have changed, like the tipping mirrors in reverse are back on. But now, when the button is pushed with the light on, it goes off. BTW, even on a new 13 model, if you hit the button and don't turn it off, it stays on even with the car off, doors closed and locked. It only goes out when you hit the button again.
The seat rattles and squeaks seem to have been addressed, but the 1/2 mile trip from the dealer back to the office wasn't much of a test. I'll be testing the wind noise fix on the way home tonight.
I leave my right mirror selected all the time so that I can use that mirror as a manually-aimed parking aid. My mirror light goes off about 30 sec. after the key is moved away from the car and turns on again when the door is opened.
When I back out of my driveway, I need the mirrors in normal position. I need to be able to see as far back as possible. I rarely parallel park, so the tilting feature isn't something I use. It's cool, I just don't have much use for it.
As for the repairs, so far so good. No more seat squeaks or rattles, the button works again and so far no more wind noise. But of course there was no wind today so it's hard to tell.
My right side mirror does not hold its position when I lock and unlock the doors with the keyless remote. It's the third time this problem shows up and the dealer STILL can't fix it.
My driver's seat did the same thing as yours and it finally broke after 2-3 times of bringing it to the dealer; they replaced the frame.
And the wind noise that you are experiencing required a channel run moulding adjustment.....worked well for about a month and it is slowly coming back. A car of this stature and price should not have these things failing.
I agree in principle that a car like this should not have problems, but the fact is, all cars have problems regardless of price or stature. I think these small items like I had repaired are only even noticable because everything usually works so well on these cars. Take the wind noise for example. The only reason I noticed it is because it's normally so quiet. Even at it's worst, the car is still far quieter inside than any other car we have. The seat squeaks and rattles probably would go unnoticed in my wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee or my Camaro just because you wouldn't be able to hear them in the first place. I've been trying for years to get rid of some of the wind noise in the Jeep with no success. I think the problem with that one is the door seal itself. It shrinks over time and pulls away from the door frame pinch weld.
After reading the printout from the dealer, it appears that the moulding was "repositioned" to correct the wind noise. Not sure exactly what that means, shimmed maybe? The drivers sear got a new frame and tracks, the passenger seat got new finish pieces and is MUCH tighter than it was. They put some sort of dry lube on the leather as well to reduce the leather creaking. I still get a small amount of creak on entry and exit, but not while driving anymore.
All in all, I think the dealer did great job of trying address my concerns. They were clear that if I still wasn't happy with the repairs or if the issues returned, to bring it back and they will try something else. I'm not sure what else I could want.
Yikes - the accidental double post! Sorry, everyone.
Thanks for the latest update, 00 ss. It's great your dealer was accommodating, and let me know if you'd like me to call them to ask exactly what they meant by "repositioned."
Thanks Katie, but I think I have all the answers I need right now. If the wind noise is still there or returns, I'll have them look at it again. If that happens, I'll have them show me what that means.
BTW, in case dealer performance is rated and recorded somewhere at GM, I took the car to Rickenbaugh Cadillac in Denver. Their service on both the sales and repair side have been top notch in my opinion.
