: 472 a/c conversion

i got a 1972 7.7 472 and im wondering did anybody ever put a smaller a/c compression on it off another gm and did it work out and how did you manage that modification.

Don't do it! The old compressor is better than the little ones. Keep it R12, too. If you can't get R12, use an R12 replacement instead of converting to R134a.

I got Cadillac eldorado 1978 and I have stock compressor and I use 134 and it work fine

I tend to agree with jayoldschool based on my experience with a '68 472. I tried replacing POA with a cycling compressor, got major temp fluctuation; tried diff compressor, never got cool; tried 134a, never got cool. IMO unless you're going to upgrade the condenser, stick with an all-around stock system running R-12.
