Been a member here for a while (mostly lurking/dreaming of a V2). Now I am finally a V1 owner!
Here she is, quickly cleaned up. Flew out to NJ and drove it home to Ohio yesterday :)
Has a few minor mods:
-SS brake lines
-LS7 clutch/FW & remote bleeder
-20% tint
-UUC Short Throw Shifter
-HID fogs
-GM Performance shocks
-Magnaflow catback

I too am a recent CTS V purchaser. Your car looks very clean and the mods are a bonus. Enjoy it...I surely do enjoy mine.

Thanks guys! Only 80k for $14750. Not too bad judging from what I've seen on CL and Autotrader.

Just out of curiosity how did you find it?

I found it on LegacyGT.com (guess what car I had before the V...). The owner has a shop that is well known on that forum. I found later that he also had an ad on this site, his user name was Paisan.

Looks awesome! I was happy to buy mine completely stock so as to get some experience modding it myself. The front bumper cover has a lot of paint chips though that were there when I bought it and being that a replacement part from
Caddy is $700 not including the labor on the install from them, I'm trying to just find a body shop that can get it repaired for me. It bothers me a lot >_>. HID fogs sound awesome though! I'd like to look into that! Are they significantly brighter?

A body shop will probably refinish that bumper for ~$400. It's not cheap, but less than replacing it.

Look into a product called "Dr. ColorChip". I have a black V with 70k on it. The front bumper had thousands of little annoying white chips in it, until I touched it up. You smear the paint on, let it dry and then wipe it off with their solvant. As you wipe the excess paint off it stays in all the small chips and makes a big improvement.

If you are going to do the entire bumper cover I'd suggest the $59 road rash kit. I still have a bit of paint/solvant left over, but better to have too much than not enough.

I actually have several problems with the cover haha. I don't know if paint chips are the best way to describe this, but see for yourselves.

This picture is on the passenger side, underside, so it's not exactly visible, but it's still irritating knowing its there.

Well... touch up paint isn't going to help you.

Still a decent body shop should be able to repaint that with out replacing it.

Okay great. And for the record, all that damage was there when I got the V, unfortunately. I didn't do any of it ;p

HID fogs sound awesome though! I'd like to look into that! Are they significantly brighter?

The HID fogs are actually brighter than the stock HID headlights but the beam pattern is wide and short, probably too much glare for oncoming traffic. I haven't used them much.

caseyschier: Looks like it's been repaired/repainted before. I bought my V and the bumper had been repaired and repainted, and after a few months it started chipping and peeling again. Thankfully most of the peeling is below the lower grille, so I was able to sand it and plastidip it to make it look pretty good.

IMO, I would buy a new bumper cover (maybe call up Luke @ Lindsay Cadillac and see if he can get you a decent price) and make sure to have an experienced body shop paint it. You can easily install the cover yourself, it's only held on with simple clips and bolts, and you can get it off in about 30 minutes...
